US and Chinese trade officials are scheduled to meet in London, England. President Trump said the talks would "go very well." In addition, Mr. Trump also confirmed that China had agreed to maintain the flow of rare earths to the US. Previously, the first round of negotiations took place in mid-May 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland, which helped temporarily cool tensions between the two countries.
US-China trade tensions have escalated since President Donald Trump returned to the White House, with a series of policies to increase tariffs between the two sides far exceeding 100%.
President Donald Trump's pursuit of trade protectionism, especially high tax policies, not only raises concerns about the sustainability of the US economy but also makes investors afraid of risks and seek safe havens.

Investors in the US are increasingly concerned about the risk of recession, persistent inflation and large budget deficits. Moody's downgraded the US credit rating for the first time in May. The main reason given was the increasing government debt, which further added to investor pessimism.
China's exports to the US fell 35% in May from a year earlier, the biggest drop since the pandemic began in 2020, according to a recent report.

Gold Price Forecast
Gold is seeing renewed investment demand as it is seen as the ultimate safe-haven asset, according to many analysts. Unstable global debt levels and rising inflation make bonds less attractive.
Any signal from the Fed that a rate cut is coming is enough to spark renewed interest in gold and silver, said Michele Schneider, chief market strategist at MarketGauge.
Tom Bruce, macro investment strategist at Tanglewood Total Wealth Management, said that although gold prices are trading in a range - resistance at $3,400 an ounce and support at $3,200 an ounce - investors should add gold to their portfolios at lower prices.
“The uptrend continues as investment demand remains solid. Even without a catalyst, gold could still rally as central banks continue to buy and diversify away from the dollar,” he said. In the current environment, the greenback is likely to fall, which would benefit the precious metal.
