On the afternoon of June 19, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held a press conference to provide information on the second quarter situation, chaired by Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan.

Responding to questions from the press regarding the situation of many businesses closing down, the work of reviewing and fighting against commercial fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property violations, Deputy Director of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development Hoang Anh Duong said that through a quick report, there were over 5,500 stores closed, mainly concentrated in the fields of cosmetics, food, confectionery, clothing, etc.

There is concern among business households before the peak period of counterfeit goods crackdown.

Pointing out the reason, Mr. Duong said that the closure was due to ineffective business operations, especially the development of e-commerce.

There is concern after the Prime Minister 's telegram and the peak period of functional forces determined to open a peak period to prevent and repel trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement.

Business households have not yet met the requirements for invoice procedures, documents, and selling goods of unknown origin, not to mention the impact of recent tax policies. Some business households are slow to change their business models, have not or do not pay attention to e-commerce, diversify products to suit trends, and have management capacity...

For more information, Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that functional forces are taking the peak of preventing counterfeit goods and intellectual property infringement, following the Prime Minister's telegram, direction and Prime Minister's Directive 13.

Accordingly, the industry and trade sector is collecting data and assessing the situation, showing that this launch has had a big impact, creating confidence for consumers.

Some people were concerned about the implementation of this campaign, but in fact it was implemented effectively.

The campaign also creates trust for producers and consumers; pushes back difficult, unhealthy problems, and bad apples spoiling the bunch. “Not everything on the market is fake, just a part of it,” said Mr. Tan.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has also deployed a working group to monitor, urge leadership and direction, and summarize. The spirit is to continue this program, not to stop after the peak period, but to summarize to have more fundamental solutions, to have solutions to prevent counterfeit goods, fake goods and intellectual property violations.

Regarding the management of e-commerce platforms, Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh - Deputy Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy - said that in 6 months, platforms were required to remove more than 33,000 products and handle more than 11,000 violating stores.

The Ministry is also developing the Law on E-commerce, with the legal policies approved by the Government Standing Committee, which is expected to include many regulations to protect consumers. For example, seller identification and traceability, helping to protect consumers.

Require platforms to enhance their role and mechanism for monitoring counterfeit goods, policies requiring cross-border sales platforms without a presence in Vietnam to have legal registration, and authorize businesses without a presence in Vietnam to be responsible for products...

At the same time, the ministry will increase propaganda against counterfeit goods on the electronic environment. Because it is impossible to have branded goods that cost only 15,000 - 20,000 VND sold online. Therefore, the ministry will strengthen coordination with forces to prevent counterfeit goods from the source.

Regarding this issue, Deputy Minister Tan also warned about the phenomenon of "cicada shedding", when violators return to operate under new names to continue their violations.

In addition, cases of violations of prices, packaging, labels or signs of criminality from KOLs that are being investigated will continue to be strictly handled, with the coordination of many forces.

Regarding the complaint against Ms. Chu Thanh Huyen for selling goods online without invoices and documents, Mr. Duong said that after receiving this information, the department inspected and handled the case as well as coordinated with the authorities, the Department of Industry and Trade, and the Drug Administration Department of the provinces.

"After the inspection results are available, we will inform you specifically about the results of handling this issue," said Mr. Duong.
