These days, the harvest atmosphere in the garden Australian mango In Cam Lam district, Khanh Hoa province, the harvest season has become bleak compared to previous seasons. Mango orchards are laden with fruit waiting to be harvested, but farmers can only watch the fruit fall to the ground because the selling price is too low, so they cannot hire people to pick the fruit.
In previous years, the price of Australian mangoes fluctuated from 15,000 to 20,000 VND/kg, but now the price is only 1,000 to 4,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the cost of investing in fertilizers, pesticides and labor costs for care and harvesting are still high, making the cost of the product many times higher than the selling price. Not only is the price low, but consumption is also difficult when traders take turns to squeeze prices.
The reason for the low price of Australian mangoes is due to unfavorable weather conditions this year, affecting the quality and yield of mangoes. Although there is a market, the purchase by traders is limited, causing the price of mangoes to drop sharply.
Currently, the price of grade 1 mangoes has started to increase, but the quantity of grade 1 goods is very small. Most farmers only have grade 2 and grade 3 mangoes, but the price is low and difficult to sell.
In addition, the export market is also facing difficulties. This year, exports are limited due to technical requirements, quality standards and market competitiveness.
In recent years, the area of mango cultivation in China has increased sharply, while the Australian mango crop in Cam Lam coincides with the harvest of Chinese mangoes. Under great competitive pressure, mango export output has decreased sharply. Currently, mangoes are mainly consumed domestically or processed into products such as dried mango and juice.
Khanh Hoa Farmers' Association said that this agency has sent an official dispatch to Khanh Hoa Young Entrepreneurs Association to call on businesses and consumers to support mango products for farmers. At the same time, it has sent an official dispatch to the Central Vietnam Farmers' Association to support and call on Farmers' Associations of provinces and cities to consume local Australian mangoes.
