Hanoi Open Badminton Tournament for Students and Students 2023 welcomes 1,200 athletes to compete

The tournament is a practical activity to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2023), welcoming the 8th Congress of the Vietnam Student Association in Hanoi, term 2023 - 2028. The Hanoi Open Badminton Tournament for Students is also an activity to promote the sports movement, develop talents, improve health, contribute to creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, the spirit of exchange and learning, increase solidarity and mutual understanding between schools and students, union members and youth.

As of September 25, 2023, nearly 1,200 athletes have registered to participate in the tournament. In previous years, the tournament attracted many athletes who are students from universities, colleges, vocational schools, high school students, lecturers and teachers in the capital.

To ensure the balance and attractiveness of the tournament, the organizing committee clearly divided the athletes into 2 groups. Group A includes: Students studying at universities, colleges, professional secondary schools, vocational schools and high schools with high level, national masters, medalists in tournaments within the International Badminton Federation and Vietnam Badminton Federation tournament system; National student tournaments from 2019 onwards compete in advanced tournaments. Athletes compete in 5 events: Men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.

Group B: Full-time, long-term students studying in universities, colleges, vocational schools, and high schools. Athletes compete in 3 categories: men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles (Group 1: 18 years old or younger (born in 2006 or younger); Group 2: 19 - 26 years old (born in 2005 - 1998).

Speaking at the tournament announcement ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Thu Do Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament said: " Over the past 9 years, the tournament has created prestige and brand, truly becoming a useful playground for young people, a meeting place for students in the capital and the whole country every autumn. The enthusiastic and exciting response of universities, colleges, vocational and professional secondary schools, and high schools in Hanoi has affirmed its attractiveness, usefulness, and practicality for those involved ."

The opening ceremony of the 10th Hanoi Open Badminton Tournament for Students and Students competing for the Tuoi Tre Thu Do Newspaper Cup in 2023 will take place on the morning of September 29 at the Long Bien District Cultural and Sports Center and is expected to close on October 1.
