According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, August 2025 recorded many extreme and unpredictable weather phenomena. Specifically, in the East Sea, there were consecutive storms and tropical depressions, including strong storms with complex movements, directly affecting the mainland of our country, especially storm No. 5 Kajiki.

Due to the influence of storm circulation, tropical depressions, combined with some weather patterns such as tropical convergence zones, high-altitude easterly wind disturbances, etc., the Northern and North Central provinces have suffered many prolonged periods of heavy rain, causing floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, the Central and South Central regions recorded extremely hot days with temperatures higher than the average of many years. The Central Highlands and the South continuously experienced thunderstorms, with many places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain in the afternoon and evening.

The North has many rainy days

In September, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the weather will continue to fluctuate due to the impact of cold air combined with the tropical convergence zone...

During this period, the total rainfall in the Northern Delta region, from Thanh Hoa to Gia Lai provinces, is generally 10-25% higher than the average of many years, the remaining areas are approximately the same.

Notably, the Northern Delta region and the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai are likely to experience some widespread heavy rains . Other places across the country will have showers and thunderstorms on many days during the month, with some days possibly experiencing moderate to heavy rain.

Meteorological experts note that heavy rains are concentrated mainly in mountainous and midland areas, with a high risk of flash floods and landslides. In the plains, heavy rains in a short period of time can cause flooding.

Meanwhile, during this period, heat waves are still likely to appear locally in the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue and the South Central Coast, concentrated in the first half of September.

In addition, according to the meteorological agency, September is likely to see about 2-3 storms or tropical depressions in the East Sea, of which 1-2 may directly affect the mainland of our country.

During the forecast period, the average temperature across the country will generally be approximately the same as the average of many years. In particular, the Central Highlands and the South will be about 0.5-1 degrees higher.

“There is still a possibility of dangerous weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind across the country,” the meteorological agency emphasized.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting noted that September is the main storm season. People, local authorities and relevant agencies need to proactively prepare plans to prevent and respond to extreme weather to minimize damage.
