Breakthrough solutions to develop digital economy in industries and fields

(ABO) On the afternoon of August 30, Comrade Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Information and Communications , Vice Chairman of the National Committee on Digital Transformation chaired the 2nd thematic session with the theme "Breakthrough solutions to develop digital economy in industries and fields".

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized the importance of digital economy as one of the three pillars of digital transformation, a tool to help stabilize, grow rapidly and sustainably, improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and competitiveness of the economy in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam .

Therefore, this meeting aims to point out the shortcomings, limitations, difficulties and obstacles that ministries, branches and localities have encountered in the process of developing the digital economy in the past and how to resolve those shortcomings, limitations, difficulties and obstacles; point out the tasks that ministries, branches and localities need to focus on implementing and the instructions and support of the Ministry of Information and Communications to help ministries, branches and localities continue to promote the development of the digital economy in sectors, fields and localities in a practical and effective manner.

To achieve the goal of digital economy accounting for at least 20% by 2025 as set out in the National Strategy on Digital Economy and Digital Society Development to 2025, with a vision to 2030, it is estimated that the digital economy must grow 3-4 times faster than GDP growth, or about 20% - 25%/year.

At the meeting, delegates heard reports on the current status of digital economic development and key tasks and solutions; announced the proportion of digital economy in GRDP of 63 localities; solutions to increase the rate of people using smartphones in localities to promote the digital economy.

At the same time, propose a 4-party approach of close cooperation to develop and promote the use of national shared digital platforms including: The Ministry in charge builds features, orders core technology enterprises to develop platforms; The Ministry of Information and Communications is the bridge to share so that enterprises can access problems; platform enterprises (core enterprises) find Vietnam's problems, solve Vietnam's problems with technology and understanding the context and culture of Vietnam and the locality to become a pioneer in piloting new models, new technology products and services, creating a market for enterprises to develop based on development orientations and strategies, suitable to conditions and circumstances to promote local strengths, solve difficult local problems thanks to digital technology.

The Ministry of Information and Communications accompanies ministries, branches, localities and businesses to promote an ecosystem of good platforms to participate so that the digital transformation process truly takes place comprehensively, holistically and throughout each field.

In addition, each key economic region will establish at least one regional Big Data Center and one regional Digital Transformation Center, focusing on digital enterprises, developing and piloting digital solutions and products, training digital human resources in the region; introducing and sharing best practices in digital transformation to continue spreading to localities in the region.

At the same time, the Meeting also received comments and discussed solutions for developing digital economy in industries and fields such as: Digital transformation of seaports; development of digital border gates to promote local border gate economy; deployment of smart lighting solutions in digital transformation of agriculture; digital transformation solutions for textile industry to contribute to digital economy...

These contents are expected to create an additional boost to contribute to promoting the development of Vietnam's digital economy in general, promoting the development of digital platforms and digital transformation of enterprises, industries and fields in the last 6 months of 2023 in particular.
