The Department of Sports and Physical Training ( Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ), the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation, and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism jointly organized the 32nd National Traditional Martial Arts Championship in 2023.
Vietnamese traditional martial arts is a cultural heritage, a tradition associated with the history of the nation, formed and built through thousands of years of building and defending the country, and the movement of practicing traditional martial arts has been maintained and developed strongly throughout the country. The National Traditional Martial Arts Championship is held annually, and this year's tournament is the 32nd time. This year's tournament, taking place from October 20 to 29, gathered 385 athletes from 32 delegations from the following sectors: Public Security, Army and provinces and cities across the country. Athletes competed in 2 categories: performance and sparring. In the category, each unit can register for a maximum of 19 categories, including: prescribed, self-selected, and sparring. In the sparring category, male athletes compete in 10 weight categories from 50kg to over 90kg; female athletes compete in 8 weight categories from 48kg to over 75kg. As a national tournament gathering many excellent athletes, the professional quality of the tournament is high. Athletes from participating teams, performing in both combat and performance, have affirmed their professional level, demonstrating the quintessence and typical moves of traditional martial arts.
The 32nd National Traditional Martial Arts Championship is an opportunity and condition for athletes to compete and improve their professional skills, and is also a basis and test to select additional athletes for the national team in many martial arts disciplines to prepare for major domestic and international tournaments.
