On May 17, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) announced the establishment of an investigation committee into the brawl that took place in the final match of the 32nd SEA Games. According to SiamSport, just one day later, the first official of the Thai national team announced his resignation. That was Mr. Yuttana Yimkarun - head of the delegation and technical director of the U22 Thailand team at the 32nd SEA Games.
Mr. Yimkarun has sent his resignation letter to FAT President Somyot Poompanmoung to take responsibility for the unfortunate incident. As the highest leader of the U22 Thailand team at the SEA Games, Mr. Yimkarun was unable to control the excessiveness of the team members.

Mr. Yimkarum is also the current Vice President of the Football Association of Thailand. However, he did not withdraw from this position but only stopped being in charge of the Thailand U22 team.
In the final match of the men's football event of the 32nd SEA Games on May 16 between U22 Thailand and U22 Indonesia, the players and coaching staff of the two teams clashed at the end of the match, creating an ugly and violent image on the field.
The referee had to show 7 red cards. As a result, U22 Thailand lost 2-5 after 120 minutes of play.
FAT affirmed that the officials and coaching staff will be the ones to bear the highest responsibility for this shameful defeat. It was not the loss in the final match but the fight with U22 Indonesia that caused the most criticism for U22 Thailand.
The official announcement of FAT said: “ The coaching team must bear the highest responsibility. They are considered the ones who must maintain a good image, representing the country. They must be aware of that at every moment, keeping calm under the high pressure of the match. There will be heavy punishment, no cover-up for those who cause this damage.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Piyapong Pue-on, a potential candidate for the FAT presidency in the future, shared with Thairait: “Players fighting on the field is not new, we have seen many such incidents. But what is unforgivable is the behavior of the coaches. They should have been the ones to stop the fight, but instead they participated in the fight.”
