The hardships of a father's life, the aspirations of a son's life

QTO - The day we arrived, in a small, old house in Cam Pho village, Gio Linh commune, Mr. Le Van Quang (49 years old) with a thin figure and gray hair was preparing to go to the hospital for a health check. Mr. Quang's life is a series of consecutive events.

Previously, Mr. Quang worked many jobs to make a living. In 2008, he had a traffic accident and had to have his spleen removed. In 2018, while picking cashews for hire in Binh Phuoc , he had another accident, breaking both arms and one leg, and had to stay in the hospital for 2 months. The disaster did not stop there, also in 2018, his wife - Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lai also passed away after a traffic accident, leaving behind irreparable pain for her husband and 2 young children.

Having lost his partner, Mr. Quang had to support his family alone. In addition to the half-acre of rice fields he was growing, on healthy days, he worked as a construction worker to earn extra income. Last April, while cleaning the house, he fell and broke his leg. When he went to the hospital for tests, the doctor said he had tuberculosis. “Nowadays, my health is declining, making a living is increasingly difficult, and my income is almost gone. I just hope to live a few more days to take care of my children's education. No matter how hard it is, I will try, but if I let my children drop out of school, I don't know what their future will be like,” Mr. Quang sighed.

In the simple house, his two daughters, Le Thi Hoai Mo, 11th grade student at Gio Linh High School and Le Thi My Tam, 9th grade student at Gio My Middle and High School, still try to take care of their studies. They understand their father's hardships and know that they cannot ask for more than simple meals with only vegetables, salt, and dried fish. "I always try to study so that in the future I can help my father with less hardship," Tam expressed.

Recently, the local government and neighbors have shared and helped Mr. Quang and his son's situation. Cam Pho village chief Nguyen Cong Thang said: "Mr. Le Van Quang's situation is very difficult. His family has been poor for many years. Mr. Quang has to fight his illness alone and raise two school-age children. It is worth mentioning that his children are all very good students. We hope that benefactors will pay attention and support him to help his family overcome this difficult period."
