An Giang does a good job of building child-centered kindergartens.
Theeducation and training sector of An Giang has been making efforts to implement the Project "Building a child-centered preschool in the period of 2021 - 2025". After 5 years of implementation, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, especially the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the deterioration of facilities in the 2021 - 2022 school year, with the high determination of all levels of education, the implementation of the project in An Giang has brought many results. The efforts to invest in new construction, renovate campuses, design educational environments and apply advanced educational models have contributed significantly to the development of preschool education in the province.
Regarding the rate of child mobilization, An Giang has achieved a rate of more than 87% of preschool children attending class, of which 5-year-old children reached 100%. The rate of preschool children attending 2 sessions/day is nearly 80%, showing parents' trust in the quality of education at preschool facilities. Regarding the quality of national standard schools, the rate of national standard preschools in An Giang is more than 60% (105/176 schools, equivalent to 59.7%).
Along with that, the facilities and educational environment have been significantly improved. Most kindergartens have invested in building spacious classrooms and functional rooms, fully equipped with equipment, tools and toys, creating favorable conditions for the implementation of the subject with high efficiency. The educational environment inside and outside the classroom is invested and planned in the direction of maximizing space for children to participate in appropriate, flexible and creative activities. The design of play models in an integrated direction has helped children develop comprehensively in terms of physical strength, thinking, personal capacity and life skills. Tools and toys are designed in an open direction, some schools are also equipped with tools and toys in the direction of approaching the STEAM educational method, helping children form skills to apply in daily life naturally and effectively.
A typical example of exploiting the model in the direction of promoting positivity for children in An Giang is at Hoa Phuong Kindergarten (Long Xuyen City). The school's open-corner design model has been successful in linking knowledge with real life. The school has taken advantage of the schoolyard space to create meaningful discovery models, helping children to interact with and explore nature and the world around them. A typical example is the activity "sea and baby". Here, children have the opportunity to experience and explore, immerse themselves in nature, sun, wind and sand through activities such as setting up tents with friends, stimulating imagination and creativity. At the same time, it brings a joyful, exciting but still safe and easy-to-control atmosphere in the environment outside the classroom, helping children have more joy and affection for teachers and friends.
With the achievements, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Vo Binh Thu suggested that preschool education institutions in the province continue to replicate the pilot model of effective child-centered preschools in the period of 2021 - 2025 throughout the province; improve the capacity of managers and preschool teachers in managing and implementing the preschool education program according to the child-centered education perspective, promote the application of information technology and digital technology in child care and education activities at preschools. Continue to promote socialization to mobilize investment in facilities, equipment, and supplies for preschool children and improve conditions for implementing the preschool education program.
