Youth ideological education on the Internet

- The Internet and social networks are having a strong impact on the whole society, especially the young generation. Therefore, protecting the ideological foundation in cyberspace is an urgent requirement, requiring the participation of the entire political system and the entire population, in which the Youth Union members and youth (YU) play a core and pioneering role.

The 4.0 scientific and technological revolution is developing strongly around the world. It is a place that contains digital resources that bring great development potential to countries around the world, including Vietnam. Besides the positive points, cyberspace has become a "fertile" land for hostile and reactionary forces to exploit and carry out the goal of opposing the Party and the State.

The Youth Union, the young generation, accounts for the majority, plays a pioneering and core role, making an important contribution to the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile views in cyberspace. In recent times, the Provincial Youth Union and its branches in the province have strengthened propaganda and education on the ideals of the Youth Union on cyberspace through many forms, helping young people grasp the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State, action programs, youth movements, associations and teams, and identify false and distorted information...

Along with propaganda work, activities to monitor and grasp the thoughts of young union members are being carried out with attention. Thereby, timely orientation and handling of information that violates the law on cyberspace, negatively affecting young people and children. Youth union organizations in the province have increased posting of news and articles on Fanpage according to the motto "Using beauty to eliminate ugliness". The construction, upgrading, operation, management, exploitation and effective use of information channels on cyberspace and the campaign "One good news every day, one beautiful story every week" have been promoted. Thereby, the ideological situation and public opinion among young people and children in An Giang are generally stable.

Realizing the great influence of social networks, in recent years, Binh Long Commune Youth Union (Chau Phu district) has created the Fanpage "Binh Long Commune Youth Union" to enhance information, provide necessary content, help young people move towards good values, live a useful life, and be responsible for themselves, their families and society. Secretary of Binh Long Commune Youth Union Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh said: "In addition to sharing information about regular activities of the commune, district and important events of the province, the Fanpage also shares counter-argument information from official sources, orienting the ideology of young people".

At the same time, the unit updates information to disseminate and educate on new laws, policies, and decrees; regulations on fines for traffic violations; social insurance, health insurance; jobs for young people... Sharing is done in the form of summarizing the content, with images to note so that viewers can easily understand and remember.

The Provincial People's Committee issued Plan 1159-KH/UBND, dated November 30, 2023, implementing Decision 311/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the program "Educating revolutionary ideals, ethics, cultural lifestyle for youth, adolescents and children in cyberspace for the period 2022 - 2030". The plan strives for over 90% of union, association, team, union and association officials and 80% of youth and children to be informed and actively implement the code of conduct on social networks; over 80% of officials working on youth, adolescents and children to be trained, updated with new knowledge, improve qualifications, skills, expertise, methods of propaganda, education and fighting in cyberspace. At the same time, 90% of cadres, 80% of union members, 70% of youth, teenagers and children are trained and equipped with knowledge and skills in digital transformation and network information security.

To achieve the set goals, the social networking sites of the Youth Union from the provincial to the grassroots level have connected, shared unified information, spread good news, fought against bad and toxic information on cyberspace; actively shared articles to fight to protect the Party's ideological foundation, refute wrong and hostile viewpoints; organized educational movements on cyberspace, attracting young union members to respond and follow.

Up to now, many communes, wards, towns, schools, and offices at all levels in the province have built social networking sites to connect, gather, interact, and orient the thinking of young people. The Youth Union has enhanced awareness raising and equipped skills for cadres and young union members to participate in cyberspace safely and effectively. Many information graphics, motion graphics, and video clips promoting the Party's guidelines and resolutions, and the State's policies and laws related to information security in cyberspace, digital transformation, digital society, digital citizens, and digital economy have been built and posted on digital platforms to attract young union members, teenagers, and children.
