In the process of building cultural villages, hamlets, and residential groups, many localities have taken the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values as the foundation for building a cultural and civilized lifestyle. From there, it contributes to arousing the tradition of solidarity, raising people's awareness, making the flow of culture increasingly permeate and spread throughout the community.
Nhan Cao village, Thieu Quang commune (Thieu Hoa), where many traditional cultural values are still preserved.
Having the opportunity to attend the ceremony to receive the National Intangible Cultural Heritage "Lantern Dance and Ancient Cheo Singing" in the Ngu Vong Phuong Festival in Nhan Cao village, Thieu Quang commune (Thieu Hoa), we could clearly feel the dedication and respect for traditional cultural values of the people in this village.
From early morning on February 21, from all the streets and alleys, from the elderly to the children, everyone eagerly came to attend this special event. The joy was evident on everyone's face. The same goes for the excellent artist Nguyen Thi Thuy, who has devoted all her heart to the folk performing art of "Lantern dancing and Cheo Chai Co singing" for the past decades. Wearing the traditional local costume, her eyes filled with immense joy, Ms. Thuy shared: "For the people here, "Lantern dancing and Cheo Chai Co singing" in the Ngu Vong Phuong festival are folk art activities imbued with the river beliefs of the community, with the desire to offer to the gods and ancestors with all their sincerity. That is why "Lantern dancing and Cheo Chai Co singing" has developed continuously throughout the history of formation and development of Nhan Cao village".
According to the village's custom, "Dance with lanterns and singing with ancient cheo" takes place on January 12, during the Ngu Vong Phuong festival and is held at the village communal house. The art of "Dance with lanterns and singing with ancient cheo" has 8 performances performed on the evening of January 12, including 3 performances of singing and dancing with ancient cheo and 5 performances of singing and dancing with lanterns and writing. For the art of singing and dancing with ancient cheo, depending on each performance, the number of participants is sometimes 4, sometimes 6 or 10 girls. The first performance is "Singing and dancing with spears", "Singing and dancing with fans", then "Singing and dancing with poles (spear legs) rowing and rowing boats". This is the most special performance of singing and dancing with ancient cheo. For singing and dancing with lanterns and writing, the first performance is singing and dancing with spears and lights, followed by singing wishes, singing invitations, singing congratulations, and then dancing with head-mounted lanterns and writing.
On this special local happy day, the excellent artisan Dam Van Su - one of the "old trees", who understands the cultural values of Nhan Cao village, said: "In harmony with the flow of modern society and the process of implementing the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", the community of Nhan Cao village has joined hands and unanimously built a cultural residential area with a very different appearance from the past. From clean concrete roads, rows of green trees, to spacious, modern houses, this place is exactly as many people who have returned from far away have compared it to a prosperous, peaceful and livable countryside. What is special is that the villagers here always pay attention to preserving their traditional culture from customs, folk beliefs, bearing the mark of the river countryside, especially "Dancing with lanterns and singing ancient cheo" in the Ngu Vong Phuong festival. And now, that folk performing art has gone beyond the boundaries of the village, becoming become a national intangible cultural heritage".
People of Nhan Cao village, Thieu Quang commune (Thieu Hoa) perform the art of "Lantern dance" in the Ngu Vong Phuong festival.
In Vinh Loc town (Vinh Loc), up to now, there have been 9/10 model neighborhoods. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, a cultural and social official of Vinh Loc town, said: "In the process of implementing the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", the locality has always been consistent with the viewpoint that in order to build a cultural residential area, first of all, it is necessary to preserve the beauty of village culture and preserve the traditional cultural values of the people. Therefore, currently, each residential area has established 1 to 2 traditional art troupes and operates regularly. In particular, the locality also has a rowing club that attracts 40 members from the whole commune to participate".
Along with that, this land is also the place that preserves a unique system of historical and cultural relics such as Giang Pagoda, Tran Khat Chan Temple, Nhan Lo Pagoda, Ha Luong Pagoda. Along with that, there are many festivals that are preserved and organized by the people every year, the most typical of which is the Tran Khat Chan Temple Festival (held on the 24th day of the 4th lunar month every year)... Thanks to the preservation of these traditional cultural values, it has contributed to creating solidarity, connecting village and neighborhood sentiments and promoting people to be more aware in implementing movements as well as local political tasks.
It can be seen that the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" associated with the construction of cultural villages, hamlets and residential groups has been focused on by many localities in the province. In 2023, the whole province had 79.8% of villages, hamlets and residential groups recognized as cultural residential areas. This has promoted the improvement of people's cultural and spiritual life, promoted self-management awareness in the community, cultural and sports activities are organized regularly, and social evils are gradually pushed back. The good news is that most localities are trying to preserve their cultural beauty from customs, folk beliefs or traditional festivals. It is not only to preserve what our ancestors have worked hard to cultivate, but also to preserve the quintessence and soul of the nation, thereby enriching the treasure trove of precious cultural heritage of the Vietnamese people.
