At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man listened to Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria and Senegal Tran Quoc Khanh report on the situation of the Vietnamese community in Senegal.
Accordingly, the community is not large in scale, only about 3,000 people, but is always united, attached to each other and always looks towards the homeland and the Fatherland.
President of the Vietnamese Community Organization in Senegal (Kim Hoi) Léontine Pires expressed his emotion when meeting National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation in Senegal; said that Kim Hoi was established in 2016, and is considered a bridge connecting Senegal and Vietnam.
With the desire to contribute to the relationship between the two countries, especially economic and cultural cooperation, Kim Hoi has organized and will organize activities to promote Vietnamese culture in Senegal; hoping to convey the cultural values of Senegal to Vietnam.

Ms. Léontine Pires also said that Kim Hoi wishes to be supported in activities of teaching Vietnamese, introducing culinary culture and activities to preserve and promote the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people in the community.
Vice President of Kim Hoi Alfred F. Quenum expressed pride in Vietnam's current socio-economic development achievements and international position, especially that Vietnam currently has a lot of potential and strengths that can cooperate with Senegal such as automobile industry, rice, agricultural and food processing, etc.
Mr. Alfred F. Quenum hopes that the National Assembly Chairman and leaders of domestic ministries and sectors will support and facilitate ideas to promote cooperation between the two countries; and propose that the two countries strengthen cooperation in various fields, especially education and training...
Ms. Sophie Kamara, 91 years old this year, emotionally shared that although she has left Vietnam for nearly half a century, her heart is always turned towards her homeland Vietnam. She conveys her nostalgia for her homeland through Vietnamese dishes and is always actively introducing those dishes to her friends and Senegalese people. Currently, traditional Vietnamese dishes such as spring rolls, rice rolls, fish sauce, shrimp paste, etc. have become familiar and loved by many Senegalese people.
Through the Ambassador's report and especially the sincere feelings of representatives of the Vietnamese community in Senegal, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his joy and emotion at meeting the people during the first official visit of a key Vietnamese leader to Senegal since the two countries established diplomatic relations.
The National Assembly Chairman thanked the Vietnamese community for having lived in Senegal for many generations, but they always turn to the Fatherland and wish to contribute to the good development of Vietnam-Senegal relations. Although small in number, the community always strives to study, work and stabilize their lives in Senegal.
On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the Vietnamese community in Senegal.

The National Assembly Chairman thanked the National Assembly and the Government of Senegal for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Senegal in recent times; emphasizing that the presence of National Assembly Vice President Samba Dang at today's meeting deeply demonstrated the Senegalese National Assembly's concern for the Vietnamese community.
Acknowledging that the proposals of the people were very accurate and profound, the National Assembly Chairman announced a number of key activities within the framework of this visit to Senegal; emphasizing that the visit has important significance in enhancing political trust, further deepening the good friendship and cooperation between the two countries, creating a strong impetus to expand bilateral relations in many fields, for the benefit of development and prosperity of both peoples.
The National Assembly Chairman agreed that Vietnam and Senegal can strengthen cooperation in many fields such as agriculture, telecommunications, digital transformation, mining, fisheries, infrastructure construction, etc.
The National Assembly Chairman said that during this visit, the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Senegalese National Assembly will sign a cooperation agreement, creating a legal framework for further strengthening relations between the two legislative bodies.
Can Tho city of Vietnam and Ziguinchor city of Senegal will also sign a twinning agreement, creating momentum to promote local cooperation between the two countries.
According to the National Assembly Chairman, Senegalese universities can establish sister universities with Vietnamese universities to promote cooperation in the field of education and training. Kim Hoi can connect and cooperate with Vietnamese associations, exchange information and act as a bridge to connect cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, contributing to promoting the country and people of Vietnam to the people of Senegal.
“Thus, in addition to the relationship between the two countries, the two National Assemblies, the two Governments, the ministries, branches, businesses, and the people of the two countries will also be strengthened, making our compatriots in Senegal feel warmer,” said the National Assembly Chairman.
Sharing with the community the important achievements in the country's recent socio-economic development, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the entire Party, army and people are striving to achieve the 8% growth target, in which the last months of the year must achieve a growth target of 8.3-8.5%.
Appreciating the contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community, the National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Party and State pay great attention to the overseas Vietnamese community, which is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation.
Recalling President Ho Chi Minh's advice "Unity, unity, great unity/ Success, success, great success", the National Assembly Chairman stated that this spirit has helped us win in the struggle for national liberation, unification of the country in the past and develop as it is today.
The National Assembly Chairman suggested that the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria and Senegal concurrently strengthen its work of caring for the Vietnamese community in Algeria and Senegal; promptly provide information on the Party's guidelines, policies and strategies for the Vietnamese community abroad such as Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW, Directive 45-CT/TW, Conclusion No. 12 of the Politburo, etc.; inform the community about Vietnam entering a new era, an era of national growth, the drastic implementation of strategic policies on streamlining the apparatus of the political system, organizing two-level local governments, merging provincial-level administrative units, etc.
The National Assembly Chairman also suggested that the Embassy closely coordinate with domestic units, especially the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to study and organize activities to teach Vietnamese writing and language to Vietnamese people in Senegal; and further create favorable conditions in terms of legal basis, living and studying conditions for the Vietnamese community in Senegal.
