In 2025, Lam Binh district aims to eliminate 988 temporary houses, including 502 newly built houses and 486 repaired houses. To date, the Party Committee, government, socio- political organizations and people in the area have completed the goal of eliminating temporary houses.
We followed the youth union members of Thuong Lam commune to Na Va village. The young people's luggage was hoes, shovels, crowbars and youthful enthusiasm. Mrs. Ha Thi Nguyet, Na Va village, choked up as she talked about her family's situation. She lived alone, was in poor health, had no income and was a poor household in the village. Her hard life forced her to live in a dilapidated stilt house for many years without being able to afford to build a new house.
Minh Quang Commune Youth Union supported Mr. Ma Van Ngai's family, Noong Phuong village, to roof their house.
Through screening, Ms. Nguyet's family received 60 million VND in support from the Steering Committee for Housing Construction for Poor Households, Policy Households, and Households with Housing Difficulties. Along with the help of the district, commune, Party Committee, local government, relatives, philanthropists, and especially during the entire process of building the house, she was supported by the Youth Union of the commune from digging the foundation, cleaning the yard, and transporting furniture. Up to now, Ms. Nguyet has a new house with an area of over 50 m2, helping her feel secure in her old age.
At the housing construction projects for poor households and households in difficult circumstances, Secretary of the Phuc Son Commune Youth Union Tong Thi Thuy excitedly shared: In the past time, the Phuc Son Commune Youth Union has continuously responded to the campaign to support house construction with specific tasks such as: dismantling old houses, moving materials, digging foundations, cleaning the environment... As a result, from the beginning of the year until now, the Phuc Son Commune Youth Union has supported 5 households, each household has 6-8 members, and the youth supported 3-4 working days. The villages have difficult traffic, and the transportation of materials is expensive, so the Commune Youth Union mobilized members to take turns supporting dismantling and transporting, helping to reduce the burden on poor households.
Ms. Ly Thi Van's family in Phieng Ta village, Phuc Son commune, did not have enough money to build a house, so she and her children had to stay at her brother's house. Faced with her difficult situation, the Lam Binh District Youth Union mobilized 60 million VND from socialized sources to help her family, and she borrowed the rest to complete the project. Along with construction workers, Lam Binh District Youth Union members also directly participated in digging the ground, shoveling sand and rocks, and mixing concrete to speed up the progress. Up to now, after more than 2 months of construction, the 45 m2 level 4 house, including two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen, of Ms. Van's family has been completed and put into use.
Lam Binh District Youth Union Deputy Secretary Lo Tien Huong said: Since the beginning of the year, the District Youth Union Standing Committee has mobilized funds to build 6 houses worth more than 300 million VND. The grassroots Youth Union mobilized youth union members to contribute more than 500 working days to support 40 households in dismantling their houses and digging foundations.
With the spirit of "Where there is a need, there are young people, where there is difficulty, there are young people", the green volunteer shirts continue to spread love and responsibility, contributing to building solid houses for poor households.
