On April 14, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City said that through state management work and information published in the media related to the incident of the map image not fully showing Vietnam 's "Truong Sa Archipelago" and "Hoang Sa Archipelago" in the Grab application map discovered on April 8, the Department worked with Grab Vietnam Company to clarify the violations.

At the meeting, Grab Vietnam Company confirmed the violation and said it was cooperating with a map data provider, OpenStreetMap, to create a background map on the Grab application.
After receiving information that the map image did not fully show the “Truong Sa Archipelago” and “Hoang Sa Archipelago” as belonging to Vietnam on the Grab application map, the company recognized the seriousness of the incident and immediately implemented measures to review and update map data to ensure Vietnam's national sovereignty .
Pursuant to legal provisions, the violation of Grab Vietnam Company is subject to administrative sanctions according to Point b, Clause 7, Article 102 of Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 of the Government stipulating sanctions for administrative violations in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions with a fine of 60 million VND.
In addition, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City also requested Grab Vietnam Company to commit to remedying the situation and implementing measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. At the same time, the company must comply with legal regulations in its business activities.
