Gyokeres is out of sync again

Viktor Gyokeres continued to fail to score in Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Fulham in round 8 of the Premier League.

Gyokeres has gone seven consecutive games without a goal for Arsenal, nine in a row in all competitions.

At Craven Cottage, Arsenal took all three points thanks to Leandro Trossard's only goal after a familiar set piece. Although the result helped the Gunners maintain their top position, striker Gyokeres' performance became the focus of discussion and was not in a positive direction.

Against Fulham, Gyokeres did not leave much of an impression. He had no goals, no assists, no key passes, completed only 5/9 passes, lost the ball 8 times and made 4 errors. It was the 9th consecutive match in all competitions that Arsenal's £60 million contract could not score.

However, coach Mikel Arteta still showed absolute faith in the Swedish student. "He was very close to scoring today. Gyokeres had a few chances and we all hoped he would score," Arteta shared with BBC . "The way he works, moves and sacrifices for the team is extraordinary. We love him and always try to support him. I believe the goals will come."

The Spaniard understands that while Gyokeres is struggling to score goals, his role remains important to the team’s operation. His dynamism and ability to attract defenders opens up space for teammates like Saka, Martinelli and Trossard to shine.

However, if this dry spell continues, the pressure will surely increase. With Arsenal in a fierce title race, expectations for Gyokeres – who scored 43 goals for Sporting last season – cannot be limited to effort and fighting spirit.
