The Hanoi City Civil Construction Investment Project Management Board has just sent a document to the People's Committee of Ngoc Khanh Ward (Ba Dinh District) to coordinate and notify the plan to handle trees within the area of land clearance to serve the construction project of Ring Road 1, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section.
Accordingly, the Hanoi City Civil Construction Investment Project Management Board will apply for a permit to cut down and move trees and organize the implementation from April to the end of August 2025.
Hanoi will cut down and move nearly 100 trees to serve the Ring Road 1 project.
The City Civil Construction Investment Project Management Board also proposed a plan to cut down, move, care for, collect and liquidate wood. Of which, the shade trees and green trees to be moved are 74 trees of the urban tree species and other tree species, such as: Banyan, Da Lan, De, Sanh, Si, Khe, Xa Nu, and Sung. These trees will be permanently planted and cared for at plot No. 9 at Vinh Ngoc intersection, Dong Anh district for 12 months before being handed over to the City People's Committee for management.
The number of trees cut down includes 24 trees, which are trees not on the list of urban trees and urban trees that are crooked, rotten, old, and dead.
For the recovery of wood and firewood from felled trees, the Project Management Board gathers and stores them at the contractor's warehouse and organizes the liquidation of wood and firewood to pay money into the state budget according to current regulations and instructions of the Department of Finance.
The Ring Road 1 project, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section, has its starting point at O Cho Dua intersection (Dong Da district) and its ending point at Voi Phuc intersection (Ba Dinh district), with a total length of more than 2.2km, intersecting with many routes such as Cat Linh - La Thanh - Lang Ha - Giang Vo - Nguyen Chi Thanh.
The route was approved by the Government in late 2017, with a total investment of more than VND7,800 billion for the 2.2km section. This is known as the "most expensive route on the planet" due to the large cost of site clearance.
