At the 15th session of the 16th Hanoi People's Council scheduled to be held on March 29, the Hanoi People's Council will give its opinion on the Project to adjust the general planning of Hanoi Capital until 2045, with a vision to 2065.

According to information from Giao Thong Newspaper, in the Project, the city forecasts that by 2030, there will be 12 million people in the area, by 2045 it will be 14.6 million people, and by 2050 it will be 15.5 million people.

Inheriting the 2011 master plan, Hanoi determined the urban planning according to 5 regions. In which, the central urban region includes the historical inner city (current inner city districts) and the urban expansion area to the districts: Dan Phuong, Hoai Duc, Thanh Tri...

The Eastern urban area of Hanoi includes Long Bien district and Gia Lam district. The Northern urban area includes the districts of Dong Anh, Me Linh, and Soc Son. The Western urban area includes the districts and towns of Son Tay, Ba Vi, Phuc Tho, Thach That, and Chuong My. The Southern urban area includes the districts of Thanh Oai, My Duc, Ung Hoa, Thuong Tin, and Phu Xuyen.

Notably, the Project has oriented the planning of the second airport of the capital in Ung Hoa and Phu Xuyen districts. Accordingly, the city will arrange the space for the development of the second airport of the capital region in the area adjacent to the Northwest expressway - National Highway 5, between the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway, National Highway 1A, the North - South high-speed railway, the North - South unified railway and the southern economic traffic axis in the area of some communes in Ung Hoa and Phu Xuyen districts.

This second airport will support Noi Bai International Airport when it reaches a capacity of about 50 million passengers/year, meeting the goal of forming two regional-scale international transit hubs in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The project also proposes to apply the model of "city within the capital". Therefore, in the coming time, the city will invest and create outstanding special policy mechanisms for the western, northern and expected southern regions after the formation of the second airport.

From there, create conditions to promote the development of functional areas of science and technology, education and training, trade services, logistics, international trade, finance...
