This morning, June 3, Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that in the 2025-2026 school year, it is expected that 3 more public high schools in Hanoi will be put into operation and assigned an enrollment target of about 10 classes for 10th grade, with 1,500 students per school.

The three schools planned to be established are located in densely populated areas, including: Do Muoi High School (Hoang Mai District), Phuc Thinh High School (Dong Anh District) and a high school in Cau Giay District.

When the three high schools mentioned above come into operation, the issue of how to enroll students in grade 10 will arise. In response to this concern, Mr. Tran The Cuong said that when the schools are in operation, the Department of Education and Training will calculate a suitable plan. It is expected that in the first year, the new schools will be able to enroll students "overflowing wishes" by region instead of dividing enrollment by enrollment route and by exam registration like other schools.

Mr. Tran The Cuong said that the rate of Hanoi students entering public grade 10 in 2025 increased by about 3% compared to last year, reaching 64% of junior high school graduates.

"When the three public high schools come into operation, the rate of students entering public grade 10 will be even higher. Building additional schools will increase the rate of students wishing to study at public high schools, meeting the people's expectations," said Mr. Cuong.

This year, Hanoi has nearly 103,000 candidates registering to take the entrance exam to grade 10 at non-specialized public high schools. Previously, the Department of Education and Training assigned 79,740 grade 10 enrollment quotas to public high schools, many of which had their quotas increased significantly compared to last year.
