On April 25, in the districts of Nam Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Hoang Mai ( Hanoi ), the Traffic Police working groups of Traffic Police Team No. 6 and Traffic Police Team No. 14 (Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police) simultaneously deployed forces to conduct surprise inspections at bus stations and main roads for passenger transport activities as the April 30 - May 1 holiday approached to prevent violations right from the source.
At the My Dinh bus station (Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi), the working group of Traffic Police Team No. 6 conducted a comprehensive inspection of vehicles preparing to depart. The inspection content included the technical conditions of the vehicles, the driver's professional papers, the camera system monitoring the journey, and especially checking for drugs and alcohol levels - factors that directly threaten the lives of passengers if they are neglected.
In 2 hours, the authorities inspected nearly 20 vehicles and did not record any violations. In the photo, a traffic police officer checks the camera system monitoring the journey on a passenger bus.
Police also extracted surveillance cameras from several passenger buses for inspection.
Sharing with reporters after conducting the inspection at the request of the traffic police, the drivers said that some drivers driving at night may use stimulants to stay awake, but this can lead to accidents and loss of speed control. Therefore, when driving long distances, if the driver feels tired, he should stop somewhere to rest until he is awake before continuing. The current continuous inspection by the traffic police helps reduce the use of stimulants and raise drivers' awareness of ensuring traffic safety.
Driver Nguyen D.B. (born in 1980, from Nam Dinh ) said that as a professional driver, he absolutely does not drive after consuming alcohol.
The Traffic Police also patrolled and handled vehicles violating traffic laws on roads around My Dinh Bus Station such as Pham Hung, Ho Tung Mau, Pham Van Dong, Xuan Thuy... During their duty, the Police discovered a number of violations such as driver Nguyen VN (born in 1990, from Thai Binh ) driving a passenger bus and violating the law: Parking in an area with a no stopping or no parking sign.
When stopped for inspection, driver Nguyen VN was shown a photo of the violation by the police and then a fine was issued.
In Hoang Mai district, the working group of Traffic Police Team No. 14 (Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police) along with a number of other functional units also organized to inspect passenger transport activities at two key bus stations in the southern part of the city, Giap Bat and Nuoc Ngam, and the main routes and axes outside the two bus stations. It is known that the time is near the April 30 - May 1 holiday, when the number of passengers coming to the bus stations begins to increase.
The authorities inspected more than 30 vehicles and found many violations such as illegal parking and opening the door while the vehicle was moving. These are behaviors that pose a very high risk of traffic accidents.
Notably, these violations were detected through vehicle monitoring devices. The drivers were then ticketed and given a written commitment not to re-offend, especially during peak transport periods.
Police measure alcohol concentration of bus driver.
Traffic police officers closely monitor the process of collecting urine samples until the rapid test for drivers. It takes about 5 minutes for the test kit to give results. This is a "5-legged" test, in case the driver has used drugs within 1 week, it can also be detected.
