Hanoi tightens management of historical and cultural relics

To improve the management of relics and the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of historical and cultural relics and scenic spots, the City People's Committee requests the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to closely coordinate with the Department of Culture and Sports to strictly implement the Law on Cultural Heritage, documents guiding the implementation of the Law on Cultural Heritage and other relevant legal provisions when implementing projects to preserve, restore and rehabilitate relics.

At the same time, widely disseminate information about the meaning and value of the relics; the necessity of preserving, renovating and restoring the relics; and publicize the project content before implementation so that people know and actively participate.

For the head of government, he/she must take full responsibility before the City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee for the management, preservation, renovation, and restoration of relics; protect and promote the value of cultural heritage and relics in the area that are in the inventory list, ranked, listed, and recognized in the city and national lists, and UNESCO lists and catalogs according to the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage that has been promulgated.

Enhance the role and responsibility in managing, protecting, promoting the value of relics and activities of preserving, restoring, renovating relics, and ranking relics; closely link with programs and plans for preserving, restoring, renovating and promoting the value of relics; at the same time, promote inspection, examination and supervision of preserving, restoring, renovating relics, protecting and promoting the value of relics in the management area.

The City People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture and Sports to organize, strengthen training, foster knowledge, disseminate the implementation of the Law on Cultural Heritage and legal documents on cultural heritage to ensure timeliness, consistency and effectiveness; guide local authorities at all levels to continue to organize propaganda, dissemination and training on the basis for businesses, people directly looking after relics and people according to the relic management hierarchy.

The Department of Culture and Sports updates and organizes interactive and socialized programs and activities to raise awareness and compliance with the law on protecting and promoting the value of local relics. At the same time, it guides investors to properly implement the process and procedures for implementing relic restoration projects according to the content that has been appraised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism , the Department of Cultural Heritage, and the Department of Culture and Sports according to regulations...

The Departments of Finance, Construction, and Justice, based on their assigned functions and tasks, coordinate with the Department of Culture and Sports and the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities to carry out propaganda and dissemination of the Law on Cultural Heritage 2024; preserve, renovate, and restore relics; protect, promote the value of relics and rank relics in the city in accordance with regulations.
