Convincingly defeating Duc Phat, Hai Dang entered the official draw of Malaysia Masters 2025

On May 20, the Malaysia Masters 2025 Badminton Tournament officially kicked off with qualifying matches. In the men's singles qualifying round, there were two Vietnamese players, Le Duc Phat and Nguyen Hai Dang.

In the first qualifying round of the 2025 Malaysia Masters Super 500, both Le Duc Phat and Nguyen Hai Dang had great matches. Duc Phat defeated his opponent ranked 11 places above him - Julien Carraggi, while Hai Dang had an "impeccable" performance against the host country's representative - Tan Jia Jie. Therefore, the two players Duc Phat and Hai Dang were forced to face each other to win a ticket to the official bracket of the 2025 Malaysia Masters.

In the match that took place on the afternoon of May 20, an excellent performance helped Nguyen Hai Dang surpass his teammate Le Duc Phat, entering the official bracket of the Super 500 Malaysia Masters 2025 tournament.

In set 1, Hai Dang and Duc Phat played a tug of war, but Hai Dang was the one who did well, agile with good defense all over the court, bringing fast and surprising shots with his very clever hands. Hai Dang took a well-deserved 1-0 lead (21-15) in the internal confrontation of Vietnamese badminton.

In set 2, Duc Phat started the game quite well but then Hai Dang quickly regained his best feeling. Both sides continuously exchanged points after that with quite quick shots, Hai Dang was the one who made fewer mistakes to gradually distance himself from Duc Phat, gaining an important victory over his close teammate with a score of 21-15.

In the end, Nguyen Hai Dang defeated Le Duc Phat 2-0 (21-15; 21-15) to enter the official draw of the Malaysia Masters 2025 and will meet Kento Momota's junior - Yushi Tanaka in round 1.
