Huynh Nhu returns to Vietnam women's team

The Vietnamese women's team has been training since May 6 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center to prepare for the 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers.

Due to being busy with Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club competing in the semi-finals of the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League Women's in Wuhan (China), coach Doan Thi Kim Chi and 8 players were not on the initial list of the Vietnamese women's team.

Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club stopped at the semi-finals of the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League Women's after losing 0-2 to host Wuhan Jiangda on May 21.

Therefore, coach Doan Thi Kim Chi and 8 players Huynh Nhu, Tran Thi Thu Thao, Chuong Thi Kieu, Cu Thi Huynh Nhu, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan, Nguyen Thi Kim Yen, Nguyen Hoang Nam Mi and goalkeeper Quach Thu Em were called up to the Vietnam women's team from May 28 to prepare for the next stage.

Among them, Nam Mi is a Vietnamese-Canadian player and has been able to practice a few sessions with the Vietnamese women's team while waiting for the Ho Chi Minh City women's club to go to Hanoi to train in preparation for the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League women's semi-finals.

At the same time, coach Mai Duc Chung also eliminated three players: Ta Thi Thuy, Vu Thi Hoa ( Ha Nam ) and Nguyen Thi Truc Huong (Club Than KSVN). Thus, after adjusting the force, the Vietnamese women's team will have 30 players.

According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's team will have two practice matches with the Bac Ninh Veterans team at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (afternoon of May 28) and the Son Tay Youth team at the Son Tay football field (afternoon of May 31).

Huynh Nhu and her teammates will have one more week of training in Hanoi before leaving for Japan for training from June 8 to 18. Before leaving, coach Mai Duc Chung plans to shorten the list to 26 players.

After the training trip to Japan, the Vietnamese women's team will move to Viet Tri (Phu Tho) to prepare for the qualifying round of Group E of the 2026 Asian Women's Cup taking place here from June 29 to July 5.

The Vietnamese women's team will face Maldives (June 29), UAE (July 2) and Guam (July 5). With this relatively easy group, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will have no difficulty winning the only ticket from group E to the final round in Australia.
