Jujitsu fighter Thanh Truc shines with 5 Asian gold medals

At the 2025 Asian Jujitsu Championship, young female martial artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc shone when she won 3 gold medals in the professional category and 2 gold medals in the U21 category, contributing nearly 50% of the achievements of the Vietnamese jujitsu team.

On the night of May 26, Vietnam time, the Vietnamese jujitsu team completed the U21 competition at the 2025 Asian Jujitsu Championship. The tournament took place from May 23 to 26 in Jordan.

A day before, Vietnamese jujitsu had achieved impressive results in the professional category with a total of 7 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 6 bronze medals. The overall team's achievements ranked 3rd after Thailand and Kazakhstan.

In the U21 competition day, Vietnam jujitsu continued to achieve positive results, exceeding expectations with 4 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 6 bronze medals. The achievements helped the team maintain the 3rd place overall.

At the 2024 tournament, coach Bui Dinh Tien and his team won 4 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 10 bronze medals in the professional category. In the youth category, they won 5 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.

Among the Vietnamese martial artists participating in this year's tournament, Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc stands out. The 20-year-old athlete won a total of 5 gold medals - in the categories: Gi, fighting, professional contact, and Gi, fighting U21.

In addition, she and her teammate Vuong Tran Hoai Thuong received 2 more bronze medals in the U21 category for Duo (self-defense techniques) and Show (combined techniques) performances.

The remaining U21 medals of the Vietnamese jujitsu team include: Vuong Tran Hoai Thuong - bronze medal in women's Gi under 52kg; Tran Hong An - silver medal in women's Gi under 57kg; Ngo Thi Thao Van - 2 bronze medals (Gi, fighting) under 63kg for women; Tran Viet Hoan - gold medal in men's fighting under 56kg.

In the performance category, there were: mixed pair Viet Hoan, Hoai Thuong - bronze medal in Duo and silver medal in Show mixed pair; female pair Hong An, Thao Van - 2 silver medals in Duo and Show.

The coaching staff hopes that the good achievements at the 2025 Asian Jujitsu Championship will be a premise to help the fighters accumulate expertise and continue to aim for international tournaments in 2025.
