According to Tuoi Tre Online on the evening of November 4, supermarkets and large shopping centers in Quy Nhon ( Gia Lai ) saw a sharp increase in the number of shoppers. In addition to those who had daily shopping needs, many people took the opportunity to buy a lot of food to stock up on in case the impact of storm Kalmaegi (which will be storm number 13 when it enters the East Sea) lasts.

At Go! Quy Nhon supermarket, the checkout counters on all floors are open at full capacity to serve customers. However, at each counter, the long queue of customers waiting to pay stretches to the end of the shelf.

A checkout clerk said the number of customers coming to the supermarket started to increase from Monday evening (November 3) and will be even more crowded tonight.

This crowded shopping effect is due to people's mentality of preparing food before the storm hits.

On the shelves, although there are no signs of scarcity, some types of food have been depleted. Specifically, canned foods such as canned fish, canned meat, fresh meat, fresh fish. Other products that are also chosen by many people are noodles, vermicelli, instant pho, sausages, meat, eggs, frozen seafood, spices, etc.

Struggling to choose some canned meat from a shelf that was more than 2/3 empty, Ms. Tran Thanh Nga (32 years old), residing in Quy Nhon Nam ward, said that after hearing the radio report of a big storm, she and her husband took advantage of the evening after work to stop by the supermarket to buy some supplies.

Ms. Nga said her family prioritizes canned and processed foods because they are worried about power outages and not being able to cook during the storm. Ms. Nga was quite surprised by the large number of customers at the supermarket in the evening, having to wait in line for dozens of minutes to pay.

Among them, Mrs. Nguyen Thu (65 years old), residing in Quy Nhon ward, said that today she tried to buy more than usual to prepare for typhoon Kalmaegi and because her family is large. After buying some dried food, canned food and vegetables, Mrs. Thu suddenly remembered that she needed to buy some eggs, but the egg shelf was empty, not a single egg left.
