At 7:00 p.m., the plane carrying Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas and his wife landed at Noi Bai airport and about 30 minutes later, the convoy arrived at a hotel in central Hanoi .

After about 1 hour and 45 minutes, the Hungarian leader and his wife left the hotel in casual attire, walking with their entourage through the streets near Hoan Kiem Lake. The 69-year-old president and his wife chose to wear sneakers for ease of movement.

They walked across Ly Thai To flower garden, along Hoan Kiem lake and towards Trang Tien street, Hanoi Opera House before returning to the hotel.

Throughout the trip, Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas and his wife held hands. The Hungarian leader and his wife happily waved to the people of Hanoi as they happily welcomed them.

In recent days, people on the streets near Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi's Old Quarter have become accustomed to seeing foreign leaders strolling and waving to locals. This is also a testament to the hospitality of the people and the safety of Vietnam for international visitors.

This is the second head-of-state delegation to Vietnam in less than a week (after the delegation of French President Emmanuel Macron) and both countries are members of the European Union (EU).

For Hungary, this is also the first visit to Vietnam by Mr. Sulyok Tamas as President. His visit to Hanoi just over a year after taking office in March 2024 also shows his interest in developing the Vietnam - Hungary Comprehensive Partnership.

The visit is even more meaningful as it takes place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1950 - 2025).

During the visit, Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas is expected to hold talks with President Luong Cuong, meet with senior Vietnamese leaders and participate in a number of other important activities.

Responding to the press, Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Tibor Baloghdi affirmed that the visit is an important milestone in bilateral relations, demonstrating diplomatic commitment at the highest level.

With its strengths in science and technology, Hungary sees great potential for cooperation with Vietnam in areas such as high-tech agriculture, digital transformation, water resources management, medical technology and artificial intelligence.

He affirmed that Hungary is ready to support Vietnam through joint research and development projects, technology transfer programs and educational and training cooperation, including scholarships and academic exchanges.

In addition, Hungary also wishes to promote cooperation with the private sector, contributing to promoting innovation and supporting Vietnam in the transition to a high-value, knowledge-based economy.
