Inauguration of US semiconductor factory in Nhon Trach

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung assessed that the inauguration of the Coherent Group's semiconductor factory is vivid evidence of the increasing confidence of the world's leading technology corporations in Vietnam's investment environment and development potential.

On July 28, the inauguration ceremony of the semiconductor manufacturing plant of Coherent Group (USA) took place in Dong Nai . Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung attended.

Coherent Group's semiconductor factory is located in Nhon Trach 1 Industrial Park, Nhon Trach Commune, Dong Nai Province (Hiep Phuoc Town, Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai Province) with an investment capital of 127 million USD, specializing in the production of Silicon Carbide panels, glass and advanced optical devices.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said this was an extremely meaningful event, marking an important step forward in the technology development strategy.   Coherent Group's global presence; and is also a vivid demonstration of the increasing confidence of the world's leading technology corporations in Vietnam's investment environment and development potential.

On behalf of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung congratulated Coherent Group and appreciated the support and drastic participation of Dong Nai province throughout the process of preparing and implementing the project investment.

The Deputy Prime Minister also acknowledged and commended the accompanying role of the Ministry of Finance and the National Innovation Center (NIC) in promoting the development of the semiconductor and high-tech ecosystem in Vietnam in recent times.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Vietnam is entering a period of strategic transition in the context of the fourth industrial revolution.   is taking place strongly with remarkable breakthroughs in semiconductor technology, biology, renewable energy, quantum technology and big data - factors that are reshaping the global value chain and profoundly changing the structure of economies.

Therefore, Vietnam needs to focus on making the most of opportunities for rapid and breakthrough development based on knowledge, science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation to overcome the middle-income trap and aim to become a developed country by 2045.

In particular, Resolution 57 of the Politburo identifies the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as decisive factors for the development of countries; as a prerequisite and the best opportunity for Vietnam to develop richly and powerfully in the new era, the era of national development.

To effectively implement the above orientations, Vietnam is actively implementing many synchronous solutions: from institutional reform, perfecting synchronous and modern infrastructure, to developing an innovation ecosystem, promoting research, development and application of new technologies.

Regarding foreign investment cooperation, Vietnam prioritizes selective investment attraction, targeting high-tech projects, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, research and development, dual conversion, clean energy, and synchronous infrastructure construction, etc.
