Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha emphasized that this year marks the first Tet holiday in Hanoi under the two-tiered local government model. Therefore, the city is implementing Tet celebrations early to ensure the people are joyful and enthusiastic. These activities will be launched earlier and will last longer, from December 20th until the end of Tet.

In order to organize New Year's Day 2026 and Lunar New Year activities in Hanoi in a thoughtful manner, meeting the needs of the people and tourists, and ensuring security and safety, the city has set out specific tasks and assigned clear responsibilities to all levels, sectors, and localities in organizing the Tet activities.

"Local authorities need to coordinate with departments and agencies to organize cultural, artistic, and sports activities to create a joyful atmosphere and build a civilized lifestyle," Comrade Vu Thu Ha emphasized.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha requested localities and departments to review locations, streets, parks, squares, and historical relics to organize activities, clean up, and decorate to serve the people celebrating Tet.

Local authorities must carry out environmental cleanup and sanitation before December 23rd; focusing on beautifying and decorating streets, public areas, historical sites, parks, and squares. Each locality must select at least two streets or locations to decorate and adorn.

In addition, city departments and agencies will take the lead in organizing cultural, artistic, and sports events to promote and introduce the products and cultural heritage of the capital. The city encourages localities to proactively develop and identify distinctive branded products of the capital.

The Department of Industry and Trade and the Department of Agriculture and Environment are in charge of developing distinctive products of the capital city to serve the needs of the people and tourists.

Comrade Vu Thu Ha noted that units and localities need to review and mobilize resources to visit and give Tet gifts to the people; especially paying more careful attention to policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious services, especially vulnerable people and those with difficult circumstances, ensuring that no one is left out; and noted the need to design unique gift models for the city, reflecting the cultural identity of the Capital.

City leaders requested the Hanoi City Police and the Hanoi Capital Command to develop plans to ensure security and safety for the events.

The Department of Construction needs to urgently review and assign specific responsibilities for urban decoration and beautification; report the results and implement the plan no later than December 20th.

The Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee requested the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Hanoi City Party Committee to continue inspecting and guiding localities in decorating and organizing activities to celebrate the Party Congress, the New Year, and related events; and requested departments and agencies to coordinate closely to implement the plan in a synchronized, professional, modern, and high-quality manner.
