Strengthening Vietnam-Japan strategic relations in education and innovation.

In recognition of his enduring and strategically significant contributions to Vietnam-Japan cooperation, particularly in the fields of education, science, and human resource development, on December 16th, Van Lang University (VLU) held a ceremony to confer the honorary doctorate title upon Mr. Takebe Tsutomu.

The honorary doctorate was awarded by the VLU Council in accordance with Vietnamese law and international academic practice, demonstrating the university's appreciation for individuals with international influence, and marking an important step in VLU's internationalization strategy and enhancement of its academic standing by 2030.

Over the past decades, Mr. Takebe Tsutomu has made significant contributions to promoting educational diplomacy , scientific cooperation, and human resource development between Japan and Vietnam. As Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance from December 2003 and later as Special Advisor, he played a crucial bridging role in strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields such as infrastructure development, healthcare, disease prevention and control, and attracting Japanese investment to Vietnam. These contributions demonstrate a strategic vision that views Vietnam's development as a vital factor for the stability and prosperity of the Asian region.

Within the framework of the event, VLU and the TOA SOKEN Public Service Organization (Japan) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), focusing on scientific research, innovation, development of international joint training programs, exchange of scholars, lecturers, and students, and connections with leading universities, organizations, and businesses in Japan.

Mr. Takebe Tsutomu stated that he will continue to connect and promote cooperative initiatives between Japan and VLU in the future, while emphasizing the role of education and human development, considering "nurturing talent" as a key factor for national development, and highlighting the training of a workforce with practical skills through technical intern programs.
