Hanoi requires people to wear masks in crowded places

Hanoi People's Committee issued urgent dispatch No. 1149/UBND-KGVX to strengthen the prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemic in the area.

Accordingly, people with symptoms of acute respiratory infections, people infected or suspected of having Covid-19 must wear masks. Everyone, except children under 5 years old, when going to public places in areas where the epidemic level has been announced at level 3 or 4, must also wear masks. Currently, all provinces and cities in Vietnam are still at epidemic level 1 - green.

At medical facilities, medical isolation facilities, and places of residence with quarantined or medically supervised people, everyone must wear masks, except for those quarantined in single rooms, people with respiratory failure, people undergoing medical procedures, and children under 5 years old.

When using public transport, the mandatory mask-wearing regulation applies to passengers; drivers, attendants on vehicles; workers at stations, bus stations, wharves, waiting rooms, shopping malls, supermarkets, wholesale markets, when in contact with passengers.

In enclosed spaces with poor ventilation (bars, dance clubs; karaoke; massage and beauty salons; gyms; food and beverage establishments serving on-site; cinemas, theaters, circuses, stadiums, studios), service staff, salespeople, managers, and workers in contact with customers must also wear masks.

This regulation also applies to service staff, managers, workers, and salespeople who come into direct contact with customers and attendees at cultural and tourist establishments, places where events with large crowds are held, places where documents are received, and places where transactions are made.

Other cases are encouraged to use masks when going to public places.

The leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee also requested the People's Committees of districts/towns/cities to take full responsibility for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic in the area. Localities need to drastically implement the review and mobilization of subjects to participate in the Covid-19 vaccination, especially for high-risk groups.

Directing the increase of human resources to support grassroots healthcare according to the epidemic's developments, monitoring people infected with Covid-19 at home, closely managing subjects at risk of Covid-19 infection to promptly transfer to hospital, avoiding transferring to hospital when the disease is severe.

The Department of Health is prepared to respond to possible epidemic situations; closely coordinate to proactively detect new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus early.

Direct hospitals and medical centers to ensure effective care and treatment, especially for high-risk groups such as pregnant women, people with underlying diseases, and the elderly, to minimize deaths.

Hanoi City requests the Department of Information and Communications to coordinate with the Department of Health and relevant agencies to proactively provide information on the epidemic situation and recommend people to follow the Ministry of Health's "2K" message (masks and disinfection) on public transport at crowded events, especially during the upcoming April 30 and May 1 holidays. Provide information on the benefits and effects of vaccines, and encourage people to participate in full and timely vaccination.

The Department of Transport directs transport units to strictly implement the Ministry of Health's guidance on the use of masks to prevent and control COVID-19 in public places for service personnel and passengers participating in traffic.
