According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoa, head of Da Hoi village, if the water recedes quickly in the next few days, the mulberry area that people grow to raise silkworms can recover. However, the entire area of corn, peanuts, and young rice seedlings is severely affected, at risk of total loss.

Not only crops were flooded, in Hamlet 6, Da Hoi village, 58 households also had water in their kitchens, gardens, livestock barns... flooded from 0.3-1 m, making it difficult for people to live and travel. Currently, households in this area have to travel by boat.

Mr. Ngo Van Hung, a resident of Hamlet 6, said that for the past few days, he has had to use a boat to travel from his house to the alley entrance to pick up his wife and children to work and school, which is very inconvenient.

At the same time, local residents are concerned that river water will overflow into residential areas, bringing with it trash and polluting the water source. To ensure safety, some households have had to temporarily move to relatives’ homes and move their belongings and pets to higher ground.

Similarly, in Xuan Cam and Mai Dinh communes, as of the afternoon of June 23, many areas were still flooded. Up to this point, local authorities have not been able to estimate the specific damage.
