Hiep Hoa: Rising water affects people's lives and production

BAC GIANG - In recent days, heavy rain in the area combined with floods from upstream caused the water level on the Cau River to rise and flood into some communes of Hiep Hoa district (Bac Giang) such as Hop Thinh, Xuan Cam, Mai Dinh... affecting people's lives and production.

It was recorded that in Da Hoi village, Hop Thinh commune on June 23, about 20 hectares of corn, peanuts, strawberries and young rice seedlings were flooded.

Many areas of fruit trees and crops of Da Hoi villagers were deeply submerged in water.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoa, head of Da Hoi village, if the water recedes quickly in the next few days, the mulberry area that people grow to raise silkworms can recover. However, the entire area of ​​corn, peanuts, and young rice seedlings is severely affected, at risk of total loss.

Not only crops were flooded, in hamlet 6 of Da Hoi village, there were also 58 households whose kitchens, gardens, livestock barns... were flooded from 0.3 to 1 meter, making it difficult for people to live and travel. Currently, households in this area have to travel by boat.

Due to his house being deeply submerged in water, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc's family in Hamlet 5, Da Hoi village had to move people and property elsewhere.

Mr. Ngo Van Hung, a resident of Hamlet 6, said that for the past few days, he has had to use a boat to travel from his house to the alley entrance to pick up his wife and children to work and school, which is very inconvenient.

Some households in Mai Trung village, Mai Dinh commune were flooded due to rising water.

At the same time, local residents are concerned that river water will overflow into residential areas, bringing with it trash and polluting the water source. To ensure safety, some households have had to temporarily move to stay with relatives and move their belongings and pets to higher ground.

Cam Hoang village cultural house, Xuan Cam commune was isolated due to the overflow of Cau river.

Similarly, in Xuan Cam and Mai Dinh communes, as of the afternoon of June 23, many areas were still submerged in floodwaters. Up to this point, local authorities have not been able to estimate the specific damage.

The river water rose, all boats on Cau River, through Mai Trung commune, stopped operating.

People hope the water recedes quickly so that life and production activities can soon return to normal.
