Transport “paves the way” for growth
Mr. Tran Van Hoa (container driver) was very pleased when sharing about the obvious changes in the freight transport journey. Routes such as Phuoc Hoa-Cai Mep, Hoi Bai-Toc Tien or the connecting routes from Phu My City to Chau Duc, Xuyen Moc, Vung Tau are now clear and open. The journey of each freight transport trip is also shortened, saving costs and time.
Mr. Hoa’s story is a vivid example of the positive changes since Ba Ria-Vung Tau stepped up its infrastructure investment. The new routes not only serve transportation, but also open up opportunities for strong development of key economic sectors.
In recent years, Ba Ria-Vung Tau has become a bright spot in the development of transport infrastructure in the Southern region. With the policy of "infrastructure goes one step ahead", a series of large projects have been initiated and implemented synchronously by the province. Up to now, the whole province has more than 5,200km of roads, of which more than 3,500km have been paved, reaching far and wide to remote areas.
The increasingly complete infrastructure has helped connect production areas, seaports, industrial parks, urban areas and tourist destinations. The development space has been expanded, contributing to bringing rural areas closer to urban areas, creating conditions for comprehensive development.
From 2021 to present, the province has invested more than 16,900 billion VND in the transport sector, of which local capital accounts for more than 12,600 billion VND. Many important routes have been upgraded and newly opened with a total length of nearly 130km.
Notably, the Component 3 project of Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway plays a strategic role in connecting the province with the Southern Key Economic Zone. Phuoc An Bridge - connecting the Cai Mep-Thi Vai inter-port route with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 is expected to promote inter-regional freight transport, connecting the Southwest region.
In addition, route 991B plays a key role in connecting Cai Mep port cluster with industrial parks such as Phu My 2, Phu My 2, National Highway 51... Provincial roads such as 328, 329, 44B, 997, and National Highway 55 bypass are also invested synchronously, expanding connectivity within the province and neighboring areas.
Strong connection
“Good infrastructure helps businesses shorten transportation time, save costs and increase competitiveness,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao Nhi, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company - the investor of Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park. Especially for import-export businesses, convenient transportation is a key factor for deep integration into the global supply chain.
In the tourism sector, developed infrastructure helps shorten the journey from Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces to Vung Tau, Long Hai, Ho Tram, Con Dao. The sharp increase in domestic and international visitors in recent times is clear evidence. Many large investors are implementing large-scale resort projects, taking advantage of natural advantages and convenient transportation.
Along with the development of industry and seaports, the urban landscape in many areas is also changing significantly. Convenient transportation promotes the emergence of commercial centers, supermarkets, markets, retail outlets and agricultural product purchasing networks. The community economy is stimulated, people's income is improved, thousands of new jobs are created from the increase of enterprises and individual business households.
According to the development orientation to 2030, with a vision to 2050, Ba Ria-Vung Tau aims to form a modern transportation network, synchronously integrating roads, railways, waterways and aviation.
A series of key projects are being planned and implemented, such as the Long Thanh - Ho Tram Expressway, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway, coastal and inland waterway routes. Along with that is the upgrading of Con Dao airport and connecting the island to the mainland to serve tourism development and medical rescue.
Investing in the transport system not only addresses urgent current needs but also creates a sustainable foundation for the future. Main roads, seaport and industrial park connection networks are being implemented according to planning, helping to improve transport efficiency and expand urban space in a modern and civilized direction.
