It is predicted that Ha Tinh will experience many severe heat waves this summer and there is a possibility of local power shortages.
At the beginning of summer, Ha Tinh power grid capacity has reached its peak.
Although the intense heat wave in early May only lasted a few days in the North, the capacity and electricity consumption in the North and nationwide increased very high. Ha Tinh also recorded record heat, leading to a sudden increase in electricity usage right from the beginning of summer.
In early May, Ha Tinh experienced a heat wave with temperatures sometimes exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
Mr. Duong Hai Dang - Deputy Head of the Dispatching Department (Ha Tinh Electricity Company) said: "Through monitoring the operating parameters of the Ha Tinh province's power grid, it shows that the electricity load of the whole province on May 6, 2023 was at a record high with a capacity of 308.7 MW. Meanwhile, during the hottest time of 2022, the highest capacity of the power grid in Ha Tinh only reached 289.5 MW".
Ha Tinh is likely to experience local power shortages during the hot season.
It is forecasted that in May, June and July, the North will enter the peak of hot weather, the load of the national power system will continue to increase and be higher than the national power system operation plan approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade .
Staff of the Control Department (Ha Tinh Electricity Company) monitor operating parameters of 110 kV transformer stations.
“More than 60% of Ha Tinh’s electricity load is for daily life, so the demand for electricity during hot weather increases very high, putting great pressure on the entire power grid system. It is expected that this summer, Ha Tinh’s electricity load will increase by about 15% in all components. Therefore, the risk of local power shortages in the area is present,” Mr. Duong Hai Dang emphasized.
Mobilizing all solutions to ensure power supply
Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung - Head of Technical Department, Ha Tinh Electricity Company said: "Grasping the growth rate of the load before entering the hot season, in early 2023, the company successfully energized the Hong Linh 110kV Transformer Station to put it into use to meet the load demand, contributing to the economic and social development in the province".
According to Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung, to ensure power supply and minimize incidents during the hot season, from the beginning of the year, Ha Tinh Electricity Company has developed a plan and proactively deployed technical solutions to promptly and effectively overcome defects on the grid. By April 30, 2023, defects on the grid have basically been resolved.

Since the beginning of the year, Ha Tinh Electricity Company has detected and handled nearly 1,500 defects on the grid; balanced phase reversal on over 300 transformer stations and rotated 72 overloaded and underloaded transformers; cleaned the hotline grid 348 times, performed 238 hotline power repair sessions; rotated 80 medium and low voltage capacitor banks, handled defects and installed 201 capacitor banks. The electricity industry also installed 10 new transformer stations and plans to install 26 new transformer stations this May... |
The industry promotes people to save electricity during the hot season.
According to records, promoting investment in the power grid is also a solution prioritized by the professional sector. According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoa - Head of Investment Management Department (Ha Tinh Electricity Company), in order to prevent overload during the hot season, the company has been implementing 14 projects with a total value of over 150 billion VND. Among them are a number of key projects such as: construction and renovation of medium-voltage and low-voltage lines and transformer stations to prevent overload, reduce power loss, and reduce the power supply radius in the communes of Kim Song Truong, Tung Loc, Thuan Thien (Can Loc); construction and renovation of medium-voltage and low-voltage lines and transformer stations to prevent overload, reduce power loss, and reduce the power supply radius in Thach Ha district; Project to build 2 22kV feeder lines 471E18.12 and 473E18.12 after Hong Linh 110kV Transformer Station to prevent overload and ensure stable power supply for Hong Linh town area and neighboring areas...
With the goal of ensuring power supply during the hot weather, Ha Tinh Electricity Company has proactively cooperated with Ho Ho Hydropower Plant and Ke Go Hydropower Plant to generate electricity during peak hours and other hours to reduce the capacity of the regional grid system. At the same time, proactively working with customers with large electricity consumption in the area such as Thanh Thanh Dat Company Limited, Viet Hai Trading and Transport Services Company Limited, Vinatex Hong Linh Joint Stock Company, breweries, brick factories... to reduce production capacity during hours when the grid system capacity is large. In addition, the electricity industry takes advantage of rooftop solar power projects to be more proactive in power supply.
Ha Tinh Electricity Company has proactively cooperated with Ho Ho Hydropower Plant to generate electricity to reduce capacity for the regional power grid system.
Recognizing that this summer Ha Tinh will experience many severe and extreme heat waves, Ha Tinh Electricity Company also recommends that customers continue to raise awareness of saving electricity to both reduce costs and reduce pressure on the power grid. Accordingly, turn off lights and unnecessary electrical equipment in homes, agencies and offices; use energy-saving devices; use LED bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs; limit electricity use during peak hours at noon and in the evening (noon from 11:30 to 14:30 and evening from 20:00 to 22:00).
People should also turn on the air conditioner when necessary and just enough for use (from 26 degrees Celsius or higher and used in combination with a fan), and should not use many high-capacity electrical devices at the same time...
