Two battleground states, two visions for America's economy

Yesterday, September 26 (Vietnam time), in two battleground states, bipartisan US presidential candidates took turns speaking out to fight for their economic vision.
On the same day, American voters received two different economic visions. The first agenda came from Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, when she campaigned in the battleground state of Pennsylvania. In another battleground state, North Carolina, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump also presented an economic development plan if he is elected on November 5.
"America Forward"
Coincidentally, both candidates have announced plans to address one of the most important issues of this election season: the economy. Speaking at the Economic Club of Pittsburgh, Vice President Harris outlined what she called a pragmatic approach to the economy, pledging to implement policies that will boost domestic manufacturing.

According to NBC News, Ms. Harris proposed the "America Forward" agenda, calling for implementing tax credits to encourage investment and create jobs in the industry. For example, she called for a $50,000 tax cut for new small businesses. In addition, she said that more investment should be poured into artificial intelligence (AI), science and energy development, as well as supporting domestic American products. She also proposed supporting US citizens to buy a home for the first time $25,000, providing a tax credit of $6,000 in the first year of a baby's life for new families. "The above plan will cost $100 billion and a portion of the funding will be paid for through international tax reform," according to information from the Harris campaign. Other ideas are mainly taken from President Biden's previous economic agenda when he was running for re-election. "A survey of leading economists by The Financial Times and the University of Chicago found that, with a 70% (effectiveness) rate, plus or minus 3%, my plan would keep inflation low," PBS quoted Ms. Harris as saying.
"Take America Back"
On the same day, at a factory in Mint Hill, North Carolina, former President Trump presented an economic plan, including taxes and incentives for American businesses to maintain domestic production. "I will offer the lowest taxes, the lowest energy costs. I will cut energy costs in half, reduce the burden of management to the lowest level and allow free access to the best and largest market on the planet, but only if you manufacture on American soil and hire American citizens," Mr. Trump declared. In addition, the Republican candidate proposed using tariff measures, such as imposing a tax rate of 60% or more on Chinese goods and applying a general tax rate of 20% to imported goods from other countries. According to PBS, Republican voters appreciate Mr. Trump's economic vision, especially in terms of tax cuts. However, Republican leaders do not think it is wise to impose tariffs. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell warned that increasing tariffs could increase the cost of products for American consumers.
Harris - Trump match receives highest level of security
Congress has approved funding for both Harris and Trump to receive presidential-level protection, which a security expert called unprecedented, NBC News reported. During Trump's campaign in North Carolina on September 25, the number of Secret Service agents around him increased dramatically. When Harris boarded the Marine Two helicopter at the Naval Observatory in Washington, the Secret Service used a black tarp to obscure the view of the vice president.
