“Basketball Warriors” is the groundbreaking theme of ABU Robocon 2025 (to be held in Mongolia), requiring each team to program robots that move flexibly and score points with precise shots - all in a live, competitive environment that simulates a basketball game. This requires teams to be not only technically skilled but also creative in their game tactics, have quick reflexes, and have absolute coordination.
Robocon MITC shines among the "big guys"
The Central College of Industry and Trade (MITC) entered the Robocon 2025 playground with 3 teams. All three teams passed the qualifying round to be present in the dramatic final round, in which the 2 teams MITC WARRIOR and MITC MECHATRONICS reached the 1/8 round of the national finals, becoming the only representatives of the college sector and the Central region to go so far in a playground dominated by the country's leading technical universities.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Van, lecturer of the Faculty of Electrical and Automation, instructor and team leader of MITC MECHATRONICS, recalled: After passing the qualifying round, from 61 teams, only 32 teams entered the final round, and these were all strong teams. In the round of 16 (knockout), MITC MECHATRONICS met the team SAO DO 3 (Sao Do University), the two teams had a thrilling match. With reasonable tactics, sophisticated control skills and high team spirit, MITC MECHATRONICS won with a score of 3-1, creating a big surprise and receiving enthusiastic cheers from the stands. This was a highly appreciated match not only for its technique but also for the spirit of fair-play and the bravery of a team from the college block.
Entering the round of 16, MITC still has two teams participating, MITC WARRIOR and MITC MECHATRONICS. Both teams faced two strong opponents from Lac Hong University, a unit that has won the national and Asian Robocon championship many times. Despite competing with high determination, showing clear strategies and making efforts until the last minute, both MITC teams encountered unexpected technical problems, preventing the robots from operating optimally in the crucial minutes.
In particular, the match between MITC MECHATRONICS and LH-AS team was an emotional one. Despite being considered weaker, MITC team still gave a fair match, showing their dexterity in every throw. Coach Nguyen Thanh Van continuously cheered and adjusted tactics directly from the technical area, contributing to the team's fighting spirit. Truong Quoc Hoai, Nguyen Tran Nhat Tien, Pham Hoang Nguyen, all students of College class K45, members of MITC MECHATRONICS team, shared their feelings: "Although we lost, we tried our best. The team had a great match with the cheers of the audience, leaving a deep impression".

Robocon - where technology dreams are nurtured
Robocon Vietnam 2025 is not simply a technical competition but also a place to ignite passion and ignite the ambitions of the young generation who love technology. For MITC, that journey has just ended - with all the pride, emotions and faith in a new future. The image of college students daring to think, daring to do, competing on par with "technology giants" has become a vivid proof of the remarkable progress of vocationaleducation in Vietnam.
The achievement of reaching the round of 16 is not only a historical milestone for MITC but also a testament to the quality of technical training, the serious investment of the school and the persistent efforts of the students. From the hours of programming all night, the robot testing sessions close to the exam time, each tactical meeting between teachers and students..., all create the image of a brave, united and ambitious MITC.
MSc. Nguyen Van Duc, Vice Principal of MITC said: “MITC always attaches importance to education linked to practice, constantly invests in programs to develop creative capacity, innovate vocational education, and build a community of technology-loving students. Robocon is a playground that MITC has invested in from the grassroots level, moving up to the national level and has high expectations. Through these activities, students are encouraged to present their ideas, access project management skills, and connect with technology businesses.”
The competition is not only a place to compete, but also a “real workshop” for MITC students to demonstrate the spirit of real learning - real work - real fighting. They not only learn how to build robots, but also practice logical thinking, team spirit, problem-solving skills and confidence in the arena - qualities necessary for future engineers.
For many years, Robocon has been considered the main playground for leading technical universities. MITC's two teams in the top 16, even defeating strong universities, is a testament to its practical training strategy, linked to high technology and the ability to organize flexible teams.
Although they could not advance further in the tournament, the two MITC teams made something special: they were the only representatives of the college system in the 1/8 round of the national Robocon, the voice of the Central region with a thirst for innovation, and a symbol of vocational schools that are strongly transforming towards modernity and integration.
Robocon Vietnam 2025 has ended with the halo of glory for the champion team LH-UDS, but deep in the hearts of technology lovers, the image of robot warriors from MITC still leaves a beautiful echo: that is the belief, the aspiration to break the limit, the proof that college students can also create miracles if properly invested and inspired at the right time.
MITC has been, is and will continue to be a typical model for the strong transformation of vocational schools, where innovation is not just a slogan, but a concrete action - with each screw, each line of code and each scoring phase on the Robocon playground.
Robocon 2025 gathered 61 teams from colleges and universities across the country. Out of 32 excellent teams in the final round, the LH-UDS team from Lac Hong University won the Vietnam Robocon 2025 championship, becoming the official representative of Vietnam to attend ABU Robocon in Ulaanbaatar - Mongolia. MITC WARRIOR and MITC MECHATRONICS are two names that have left a special mark. Both teams made it to the knockout round, the top 16 strongest teams, standing shoulder to shoulder with "big names" such as Lac Hong University, Hung Yen Technical Education, Military Technical Academy... |
