Hai Phong aims to become a center of marine economy; an international center for training, research, application and development of marine science and technology.

On the morning of October 10, at the City Convention and Performance Center, the Department of Science and Technology (KH&CN) of Hai Phong City organized a scientific workshop with the theme: "Marine Science and Technology of Hai Phong City: Strategic Vision - Breakthrough Proposals". The event is of great significance in determining the strategic vision and preparing the scientific basis for the development of the Marine Science and Technology Development Program of Hai Phong City for the period 2026 - 2030.

With the strategic position of "gateway to the Sea" of the North, in recent times, Hai Phong has made many efforts in developing marine science and technology and achieved many outstanding results: Forming a network of research facilities and enterprises with marine technology capacity; Organizations and units have implemented many city-level and national-level science and technology tasks related to the sea, including projects on high-tech aquaculture technology, application of new technology in exploitation and protection of aquatic resources, research on marine medicinal herbs, coastal environmental monitoring; Marine science and technology infrastructure has been gradually strengthened; The seaport system has been invested in modernly, approaching international standards, gradually applying digital technology and artificial intelligence in operation; International cooperation is increasingly expanded and focused.

At the workshop, delegates discussed and analyzed scientific and technological solutions to effectively exploit marine resources, develop a sustainable marine economy , and affirm Hai Phong's position as the country's marine economic center. In particular, focusing on the following contents: Scientific research activities and applications, technology transfer in marine fields; Current status and requirements for developing marine science and technology potential in Hai Phong city; Mechanisms, policies and international cooperation in developing marine science and technology in Hai Phong city; Linking marine science and technology with sustainable development, blue marine economy and national security and defense.

Through the program, scientists and experts provided in-depth analysis, from the experiences of other countries and localities, the current status of the city's marine science and technology potential, and proposed policy mechanisms, international cooperation, as well as the role of science and technology in sustainable development, blue ocean economy and national security and defense.

The workshop is an important activity contributing to concretizing the city's orientation for science and technology development and innovation until 2030, with a vision to 2045. This is also an important premise for building and implementing the Hai Phong City Marine Science and Technology Development Program until 2030, gradually turning Hai Phong into an international center for training, research, application and development of marine science and technology in the country./.
