Hai Phong moves towards a comprehensive digital society with "A reliable and secure online presence with .vn domain name"

Hai Phong affirms its pioneering role in comprehensive digital transformation with the program "Trusted and secure online presence with .vn domain name", aiming at the goal of universalizing digital skills, building digital citizens and an inclusive and sustainable digital society.

Recently, the Department of Science and Technology (KH&CN) of Hai Phong City coordinated with the Vietnam Internet Center (VNNIC) - Ministry of Science and Technology to organize a Conference to deploy the Program "Promoting and supporting people, businesses, and business households to have a reliable and safe online presence with the national domain name .vn" in the period of 2025-2026; at the same time launching the program "Reliable and safe online presence with the national domain name .vn" throughout the city - marking Hai Phong as a typical locality in synchronous deployment on a large scale.

This is an activity to concretize Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation (DCT), and at the same time realize the Resolution of the Hai Phong City Party Committee on comprehensive DCT.

In particular, the program is also a meaningful activity, contributing to promoting the "Digital Literacy for All" movement to popularize basic digital awareness and skills to every citizen, business household, and student, helping everyone know how to use, understand the value and master digital tools - from websites, emails to personal online brands.

The movement is expected to become the foundation for building digital citizens in Hai Phong , contributing to the formation of an inclusive and comprehensive digital society.

Hai Phong promotes "Digital Education for the People" with the national domain name .vn

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Huy Thang, Permanent Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Hai Phong emphasized: "The domain name ".vn" is a national Internet resource, affirming Vietnam's sovereignty in cyberspace. This is a means to help Hai Phong people and businesses affirm their identity and pride in Vietnam in the digital age. Through this program, the city aims to make digital transformation a common skill for all people, spreading the spirit of "Digital Literacy for All", so that every citizen, business household and student can confidently and safely appear in cyberspace."

".vn" domain name is a national Internet resource, affirming Vietnam's sovereignty in cyberspace. This is a means to help people and businesses (DN_ Hai Phong) affirm Vietnamese identity and pride in the digital age.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Acting Director of VNNIC, also reviewed the effective coordination activities between VNNIC and Hai Phong City in recent times. Mr. Giang emphasized that the implementation of the program in Hai Phong is not only technical support, but also an important solution to promote digital economic development and improve the local digital transformation index (DTI).

"Hai Phong is currently in the Top 10 localities leading the country in terms of Digital Transformation Index (DTI), especially achieving outstanding results in the pillars of digital economy and digital government. Through this program, VNNIC hopes to work with the city to create a digital enterprise data ecosystem, helping to assess the actual digital transformation process at the provincial level, while increasing the proportion of the digital economy in local GRDP. The "Digital Popularization" movement is considered the foundation of this process - helping each citizen have a digital identity, each business household have a digital booth, gradually forming digital citizens and digital business households, creating new momentum for an inclusive digital society," Mr. Giang shared.

According to Mr. Giang, Hai Phong has many favorable conditions to become a bright spot in the Northern Coast region in terms of digital economic development: It is a large industrial, logistics and commercial center, with more than 135,000 operating business households; It is a pioneering locality in applying technology in management, education, tourism and e-commerce; There are about 100,000 university and college students - a young, dynamic force, playing a core role in the movement "Each student - A digital identity with the .vn domain name".

Through this program, VNNIC hopes to bring Hai Phong enterprises and business households to the digital environment, form local digital brands, protect Vietnamese brands on the Internet, spread OCOP products, regional specialties and Hai Phong digital tourism nationwide and the world.

The program also focuses on supporting digital transformation for business households, traditional markets and craft villages, helping each household have an online store with the domain name "biz.vn", promoting typical products, boosting the consumption of Vietnamese goods, improving competitiveness and contributing to the development of the digital economy for the whole population.

Hai Phong students and businesses are supported with free ".vn" domain names to build digital brands.

The program awards a solution package including 150,000 "biz.vn" domain names and digital services (website, email) to representatives of the People's Committees of communes and wards to support businesses and business households in building their online brands for free for the first two years, expanding the market and enhancing the reputation of Vietnamese brands on the Internet.

For the young force, the program gives away a solution package of 93,000 "id.vn" domain names and free digital services (website, email) to universities and colleges, in which Hai Phong University and Vietnam Maritime University are two pioneering units. Each student gets a free "id.vn" domain name with a personal website, email, Live CV, support for building personal brand and digital career profile.

By 2026, Hai Phong strives to have 50-60% of young people and students using the domain name "id.vn"; 40-50% of businesses and business households using the domain name "biz.vn". Hai Phong University was chosen as the first pilot unit, striving for 70% of students to register for "id.vn" in 2025, integrating digital identity and digital skills into the curriculum./.
