Thanh Hoa province's volunteer group went to Da Nang to repair motorbikes for free for people.

On the morning of November 11, it was just after 6 o'clock but many people in Hoi An ward brought their motorbikes to the premises of the People's Committee of Cam Kim commune (old) to wait for free repairs.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung (Trung Ha block, Hoi An ward) said that during the recent flood, his family's scooter was deeply submerged and could not be repaired for more than a week because shops refused or made him wait for a long time due to the large number of vehicles. Therefore, when he heard about the volunteer group coming to repair his motorbike for free, he immediately brought his motorbike there.

After checking, Mr. Dung’s car battery was broken; the gasoline and oil were contaminated with water and needed to be replaced… After just over an hour, the car started normally again. Overjoyed, Mr. Dung bought a few cups of coffee and water to thank the enthusiastic workers.

On the morning of November 11, more than 150 motorbikes were brought in by people for inspection and repair. According to Mr. Trinh Van Tinh, a member of the Thanh Hoa Motorcycle Technical Association, most of the motorbikes were damaged due to being submerged in floodwater for a long time; they only need to be cleaned and some parts adjusted to be fixed. For motorbikes that need replacement parts, the team will inform people to buy them for replacement.

"Seeing the people in the flood area suffer so much, many of my brothers and I temporarily put aside our work in Thanh Hoa to come here to support, as a way to contribute a part of our efforts to share the hardship with the people," said Mr. Tinh.

Thanh Hoa Motorcycle Technical Association was established in 2020 with more than 350 members, most of whom are professional motorcycle mechanics living in Thanh Hoa province.

For nearly 5 years, the association has organized many volunteer groups to go to localities in the country to repair vehicles for free for people, especially after natural disasters. During the flood in the North in early October, the association organized more than 120 volunteers to go to Thai Nguyen to support and repair thousands of flooded motorbikes for people.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Giap, Head of the volunteer motorbike repair team, Thanh Hoa Motorcycle Technical Association, shared that according to the plan, on November 5, the team went to Da Nang to repair motorbikes for people, but due to the impact of storm No. 13, they had to temporarily stop and were only able to make the trip now.

"The team departed at 6 p.m. on November 10, traveled through the night until 4:15 a.m. this morning (November 11), arrived in Da Nang, and began repairs at 5:15 a.m.," said Mr. Giap.

During this trip to support motorbike repair for Da Nang residents, more than 100 volunteers of the association were arranged at 4 locations in Hoi An ward, Go Noi commune and Thuong Duc commune, with an expected stay of 4 days.

According to Mr. Giap, all accommodation expenses were raised by the group, calling for donations from philanthropists, businesses, spare parts stores... throughout the country. The local government only needs to support a spacious location for volunteers to repair vehicles, or can arrange a cultural house for the group to stay.
