Dream Bridges
On October 1, Lai Xuan bridge across Da Bach river connecting Viet Khe commune ( Hai Phong city) with the old Dong Trieu town (Quang Ninh province) officially opened to traffic temporarily in the joy of local people on both banks.
This will be the 4th road traffic corridor connecting Hai Phong - Quang Ninh after the projects: Da Bac Bridge (National Highway 10); Bach Dang Bridge, Ben Rung Bridge, becoming an important driving force to synchronously connect almost all adjacent areas of the two localities. Thereby contributing to improving traffic service capacity, meeting the transportation needs between industrial zones, clusters and the urban chain being formed. At the same time, promoting land space, expanding new development space, creating a driving force for symbiotic development in goods trading, supplying human resources of the region.
Lai Xuan Bridge is considered as a "red thread" connecting and promoting the solidarity and close relationship between the people of the two localities. The bridge is 840 m long, 12 m wide, with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete structure, with a total investment of 544 billion VND.
Along with Lai Xuan bridge, the city has allocated funds to renovate and expand provincial road 352 in the former Thuy Nguyen city.

Previously, in July 2024, Ben Rung Bridge - the dream bridge for the people of the old Thuy Nguyen city (Hai Phong city) and the old Quang Yen town (Quang Ninh province) was officially inaugurated and put into operation. In the dream because for the people, the Rung River is a large river. That's why the people of Thuy Nguyen used to have a saying: "The highest is U Bo mountain. The most crowded is Gia market, the biggest is Rung river". Ben Rung Bridge is a special traffic project, with a total investment of 1,941 billion VND. The bridge is 1,865 m long and 21.5 m wide.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, Dong Viet Bridge across the Thuong River connecting Hai Phong City with Bac Ninh Province was inaugurated. Dong Viet Bridge has a total length of more than 811 m, the bridge surface is 23.5 m wide. This is a large-scale, modern bridge, with a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND. The two-way approach road is nearly 7 km long, designed according to the standards of a grade II plain road, with a 22 m wide roadbed, 21.5 m wide road surface, directly connecting to National Highway 37. The bridge put into operation opens up a complete traffic axis, an important connection route between Hai Phong City and Bac Ninh Province.
Traffic goes first, clears the way
Hai Phong City is located as the international gateway in the Northeast of Vietnam to the East Sea, connecting the economic corridor of Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, and is also a direct connection point with the ASEAN - China - Northeast Asia trade axis and the global logistics chain with synchronous infrastructure and multimodal transport.
The Resolution of the Hai Phong City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term determined: to mobilize and effectively use all resources to synchronously and modernize strategic infrastructure systems for seaports, industry, transportation, and logistics, creating strong breakthroughs in regional linkages and international connections.

With the viewpoint of "transportation goes first to pave the way", in the next 5 years, the city has determined to focus on prioritizing resources, implementing 16 projects and works in the transport sector chaired by the city, including: completing the route connecting National Highway 5 with National Highway 10; investing in the construction of the route connecting from Rao 3 bridge to the coastal road; investing in the construction of Ring Road 2; investing in the construction of Ninh Binh - Hai Phong expressway (section through Hai Phong city and 9 km in Hung Yen province); high-speed route connecting East - West Hai Phong city; building the route connecting Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway with Gia Binh airport (including extended provincial road 394B, extended Vo Nguyen Giap avenue); building the axis connecting Lach Huyen port, the northern area of the city with Gia Binh airport (ring road 3 to Kenh Vang bridge); investing in Tan Vu - Lach Huyen 2 road... Thereby expanding development space to create new growth momentum for the city.
The focus on investment in developing and perfecting a synchronous and modern transport system has become the driving force and “push” for socio-economic development, ensuring the even and harmonious development of the city’s areas and creating convenient connections with domestic and international areas according to the multimodal transport model. This has contributed to building Hai Phong into a modern, civilized, ecological and livable industrial port city of the Southeast Asian region.
By the end of 2024, Hai Phong city will coordinate to build Hoa River Bridge, Nghin 2 Bridge and the coastal road connecting with Thai Binh province; Quang Thanh Bridge and Dinh Bridge connecting with Hai Duong province; Lai Xuan Bridge and Ben Rung Bridge connecting with Quang Ninh province. The total value of the bridges and connecting roads is nearly 10,000 billion VND.
