Female commune officials in Hai Phong strive to adapt to their work

Young female leaders

Ninh Giang Commune is one of the commune-level administrative units with the most female and youngest leaders among the 114 communes, wards and special zones of Hai Phong city. In the Standing Party Committee of the commune, 2/3 of the comrades are female and all under 45 years old. The Standing Deputy Secretary is comrade Dao Thi Phuong Thao (born in 1981).

2/3 of the leaders of Ninh Giang Commune People's Committee are also women. Comrade Nguyen Thi Hue (born in 1985) is currently Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of Ninh Giang Commune People's Committee.

After the merger, Ninh Giang commune has a population of nearly 40,000 people, and is the central commune of the old Ninh Giang district, so the workload for the commune People's Committee in general and the responsibility for the head of the commune People's Committee in particular is quite heavy.

Returning to her office after the regular citizen reception every Wednesday morning, Ms. Hue takes the time to sign and approve documents, give opinions on documents and reports sent by specialized departments, and then prepare to welcome the city's working delegation to the commune to survey and work. Despite the continuous working frequency, Ms. Hue is still agile and full of energy.

Having graduated with a major in economics and having previous experience working at the district and commune levels, Ms. Hue had many advantages but also encountered difficulties when taking on the task in the new commune after the merger and organization of the two-level local government.

"In the early days of taking on new tasks in the new commune model, everyone was confused and faced difficulties. I determined that from the beginning and I had to make an effort to adapt to both learning and working. This was also an opportunity to challenge and hone myself. The female leaders in the commune all managed their work decisively and decisively, avoiding problems and conflicts," Ms. Hue shared.

At home, her husband works far away, Ms. Hue is lucky to have her grandparents nearby to help with cooking and taking care of the children, but she still has to take advantage of the end of the day to talk and ask about her children, because they are in their teens and need attention and sympathy.

At the office, Ms. Hue always tries to create a working environment with moderate pressure and discipline, while encouraging staff and civil servants to work hard, especially for women who work at the office and have to take care of housework at home.

According to Mr. Bui Thanh Tung, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Commune People's Council, the key female leaders of the commune have coordinated well in the past time to unite in carrying out common tasks and doing a good job in directing and operating. This is a great effort when the women not only take on important responsibilities in the new commune organization but also have to ensure that they take care of their family.

Adaptation efforts

After the merger, female commune-level officials in Hai Phong also made efforts to adapt to new tasks.

Ms. Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and President of the Women's Union of Gia Phuc commune, is trying to fulfill this completely new role.

After 17 years working in the propaganda sector in the old Gia Loc district, Ms. Thuy returned to the new commune with many surprises. Having never worked in any associations or organizations, she both worked and gained experience. The foundations accumulated during her time working in propaganda and working in the district also helped her a lot in her current job.

When the workload is high and the number of helpers is low, Ms. Thuy has to work harder. If she doesn't know anything, she can ask her friends, superiors, and colleagues. The Commune Women's Union has just successfully organized its first Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term.

"In the past time, especially during the days preparing for the congress, we left early and came home late, so the time we spent with our families and children was limited. The sisters are all trying very hard to complete the assigned tasks well," said Ms. Thuy.

After 3 months of operation, Gia Phuc Commune Women's Union has organized many meaningful activities, coordinated gift giving campaigns for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, meritorious people, children, women in difficult circumstances and participated in supporting the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses with a total cost of nearly 200 million VND.

In the coming time, the association will focus on developing and recruiting new members, introducing outstanding members to join the Party. Strengthening attention to women, orphans, and disadvantaged children, focusing on directing the implementation of key models to bring high efficiency and practicality. Ms. Thuy has just been awarded a certificate of merit by the Chairman of Gia Phuc Commune People's Committee for her outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2020 - 2025. The leaders of the Hai Phong City Women's Union assessed her as one of the typical and dynamic union officials.

The recognition of local authorities and all levels and sectors, along with the understanding and sympathy of families and society, will be the motivation for female commune-level cadres and civil servants in Hai Phong to overcome difficulties and challenges during this period.
