Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung - Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee emphasized that the Resolution of the First Hai Phong Party Congress, term 2025-2030 and other resolutions of the Central Committee all emphasized that Hai Phong will be built into a smart, ecological, livable city. One of the key points to implement this strategy is tourism development.
According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Hai Phong has very rich tourism potential, including two heritages in the world heritage complexes recognized by UNESCO: Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago and Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac. Hai Phong is a city with developed transport infrastructure, with five types of transport: road, waterway, railway, sea and air, in which Cat Bi international airport is an important airport in the North, meeting the standards of a level 4E airport, qualified to receive large aircraft.

To develop sustainable tourism and improve competitiveness, close linkage between tourism and aviation is essential. Aviation is not only a trade bridge but also a "lever" to promote growth in passenger numbers, creating favorable conditions for tourists to access Hai Phong's destinations quickly and conveniently.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung emphasized that the conference is an opportunity for delegates to exchange, discuss and find practical solutions to promote cooperation between the two sectors, while promoting the attraction of more new flights to Hai Phong to increase trade and stimulate tourism. This is also an opportunity to open up new opportunities for sustainable development of Hai Phong tourism, improve competitiveness and attract more domestic and foreign tourists.
Hai Phong City will create the most favorable conditions for businesses and partners in the aviation and tourism industries to develop, and will continue to improve policies and invest in upgrading destinations to serve tourists more professionally and with higher quality.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing the contents including information on the investment situation, upgrading and exploitation situation at Cat Bi International Airport; the need to open new routes to Hai Phong city; difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process as well as proposed solutions and policies to support airlines to open new routes to Hai Phong; connecting with tourism businesses and neighboring localities to build attractive tourism products to attract the tourist market by air.
According to Mr. Le Huy Truong, Deputy Director of Cat Bi International Airport, Cat Bi International Airport is currently operating key domestic routes including Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Buon Ma Thuot, Da Lat and Can Tho. These are routes directly connecting Hai Phong with major economic and tourist centers across the country. The airport is operating international routes including: Incheon (Korea) and routes to China including Lijiang, Nanning, Kunming. Airlines that have been and are operating are Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, Lucky Airlines, QingDao Airlines, Ruili Airlines, Thai AirAsia, Shenzhen Airlines. There are 40 to 50 take-offs and landings per day. In the past 10 months, the number of passengers passing through Cat Bi International Airport has reached more than 2 million passengers.

Mr. Le Huy Truong shared some experiences in cooperation between the aviation and tourism industries, and proposed some contents to attract tourists by air such as strengthening tourism promotion programs in some key markets such as Thailand, China and Korea. Support the connection of domestic and foreign tourism and travel businesses to create a stable source of customers, especially in the route opening phase. In addition, there should be a close coordination mechanism between the city, departments, branches with airports and airlines in building tourism products, linking tours, tickets, and stimulus packages to improve the efficiency of exploiting new international routes.
