Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club had a stormy match when facing Melbourne City in the final match of Group A of the AFC Women's Champions League 2025/26.

The Australian team showed their superior class and only needed a few dozen seconds to make their first impression. From a cross from the left wing, McNamara seized the opportunity in the chaotic situation and finished very quickly, not giving goalkeeper Kim Thanh a chance to block.

Before they could stabilize their game, the Vietnamese representative received a second “punch” in the 4th minute. Maria Khan’s mistake in handling the ball opened up an opportunity for Apostolakis to unleash a dangerous long-range shot to increase the score to 2-0.

In the 39th minute, the Australian team scored the third goal after a well-coordinated move, McMahon easily scored from Davidson's pass.

The second half saw the HCMC girls try harder but the big difference in skill level prevented Huynh Nhu and her teammates from scoring. On the contrary, Melbourne City created many dangerous situations, in which McNamara almost increased the score but missed the shot.

In the end, Ho Chi Minh City women's team lost 0-3 to Melbourne City. With 2 wins, the Vietnamese representative still maintained the second position in Group A, winning the right to enter the quarter-finals of the continental playground.
