Hai Phong honored to receive the title 'Heroic City'

(PLVN) - On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025), the Party Committee, government and people of the Port City were honored to receive the noble title "Heroic City" awarded by the Party and State. This is a recognition of Hai Phong's great, persistent and proud contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Accordingly, on April 28, President Luong Cuong signed Decision No. 766/QD-CTN on conferring the title "Heroic City" to the Party Committee, government and people of Hai Phong City.

According to the plan, the ceremony to award the title of “Heroic City” will take place on the 70th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day and the 12th Red Flamboyant Festival. The festival will be held solemnly, expressing pride and gratitude to generations of cadres, soldiers and people of the city who have made great contributions to the cause of national liberation, construction and development of the country.

Hai Phong is the largest seaport city in the North, marking the glorious milestones of Vietnam's revolutionary history. Through the resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, until the period of renovation and international integration, Hai Phong has always maintained its pioneering role, worthy of the tradition of "Loyalty - Determination to Win".

In particular, in recent years, Hai Phong has achieved many important achievements in the socio-economic fields. The city has continuously been in the leading group of the country in terms of budget revenue, foreign direct investment attraction and GRDP growth rate. Transport infrastructure has been invested synchronously, with a series of key national projects such as: Lach Huyen International Port, Tan Vu - Lach Huyen Bridge, Cat Bi International Airport expansion...

The title “Heroic City” is not only a great source of pride but also a strong source of encouragement and motivation for the Party Committee and people of Hai Phong to continue striving to build the city into a modern industrial city before 2030, an international logistics center, and by 2045 become one of the leading cities in Asia.

In the document proposing to confer the title of "Heroic City", the authorities emphasized that over the past 70 years, Hai Phong has always promoted the spirit of steadfast revolution, solidarity, daring to think, daring to do, and creativity in economic development, ensuring national defense and security, making practical contributions to the cause of innovation, industrialization and modernization of the country.

Conferring the title "Heroic City" on Hai Phong also contributes to affirming the Party and State's high appreciation for the role, position and development potential of the city in the new period.

After Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong is the second locality in the country to be honored with this noble title. This is also a solid affirmation of Hai Phong's strategic position in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, and at the same time a source of pride and great inspiration for generations of people in the Port City today and tomorrow.

With the tradition of “Loyalty and Victory”, and with a strong desire to rise, Hai Phong is gradually affirming its position on the regional and world economic map, worthy of the expectation of being the driving force for development of the North and the whole country…
