According to information published in Yonhap on April 24, the South Korean Ministry of Finance will prepare a budget to completely eliminate the growing drug trafficking activities in the country.

At a meeting on the 2024 budget, South Korean Vice Finance Minister Choi Sang-dae said that adequate spending will be planned for drug investigations and related infrastructure.
According to data from the Ministry of Finance, South Korea has stepped up its anti-drug trafficking efforts by allocating a budget of 4.9 billion won ($3.67 million) to the Ministry of Justice in 2023, up 10.8 percent from 2022. In 2023, South Korea will allocate 3.1 billion won ($2.3 million) to police for anti-drug trafficking operations, up 43.1 percent from the previous year.
Earlier this month, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol ordered drastic measures to crack down on drug rings after high school students were tricked into drinking drug-laced drinks. The number of drug trafficking cases in South Korea has increased sharply in recent times.
