As reported by VietNamNet, the Investigation Police Agency ( Ministry of Public Security ) has just completed the investigation conclusion, proposing to prosecute 17 defendants in the case of "Violating regulations on management and use of State assets causing waste and loss" occurring at the Phan Thiet Urban Area Project (Binh Thuan).

In this case, Mr. Le Tien Phuong (Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province from 2010 to 2015); Do Ngoc Diep (former Chairman of the People's Committee of Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province); Nguyen Van Phong (former Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province) and Nguyen Van Tho (former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Southern Information and Valuation Joint Stock Company) were proposed to be prosecuted for the crime of Violating regulations on state asset management causing loss and waste.

According to the investigation conclusion, the consequences of the defendants' illegal approval of land prices at the Phan Thiet coastal urban tourism project caused a loss of more than VND308 billion to the state budget. The total amount of money to remedy the consequences that the defendants and related people paid into the temporary account of the investigation agency was more than VND90 billion.

During the investigation, the police seized many real estate properties related to the defendants.

Specifically, for the defendant Le Tien Phuong, the Investigation Police Agency has seized 5 plots of land and assets attached to the land, including: 300 square meters of house and land in Xuan An ward, Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province; 149.3 square meters of house and land in Phu Thuy ward, Phan Thiet city; 279.3 square meters of house and land in Phu Thuy ward, Phan Thiet city; 305.1 square meters of house and land in Phu Thuy ward, Phan Thiet city; 4,762.4 square meters of land in Ham Minh commune, Ham Thuan Nam district, Binh Thuan province.

The Investigation Police Agency has seized 9 real estates related to Mr. Do Ngoc Diep, including: 1,030.0m2 of house and land in Tien Loi commune, Phan Thiet city; 1,024.0m2 of house and land in Tien Loi commune, Phan Thiet city; 432.0m2 of land in Tien Loi commune, Phan Thiet city; 656m2 of land in Tien Phu village, Tien Loi commune, Phan Thiet city; 528.0m2 of land in Tien Loi commune, Phan Thiet city; 224m2 of land in Phan Thiet city; 176m2 of land in Tien Phu village, Tien Loi commune, Phan Thiet city; 80m2 of land in Tien Loi commune, Phan Thiet city; 80m2 of land in Tien Loi commune, Phan Thiet city.

For defendant Nguyen Van Tho: Seize 10 plots of land and assets attached to the land, including: 181m2 of house and land in Long An province; 242m2 of house and land in Long Huu Tay commune, Can Duoc district, Long An province; 650m2 of house and land in Can Duoc district, Long An province; 625m2 of land in Long Huu Tay commune, Can Duoc district; 786m2 of land in Long Huu Tay commune, Can Duoc district; 1,919m2 of land in Long Huu Tay commune, Can Duoc district; 597m2 of land in Long Huu Tay commune, Can Duoc district; 353m2 of land in Long Huu Tay commune, Can Duoc district; 29.8m2 of house and land on Pham The Hien street, Ward 6, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City; 30m2 of house and land in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.

Regarding defendant Nguyen Van Phong, the Investigation Police Department has seized 2 plots of land and assets attached to the land, including: 100 square meters of house and land in Phan Thiet City and 100 square meters of house and land in Xuan An Ward, Phan Thiet City.

The Ministry of Public Security's investigation agency also requested the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province to direct the competent authorities not to allow transactions, sales, and transfers of houses and land of Rang Dong Joint Stock Company and Phan Thiet Urban Beach Tourism Area Company Limited at the Phan Thiet Urban Beach Tourism Area project, Phu Thuy ward, Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province.

The Ministry of Public Security has sent an official dispatch requesting the People's Committees of Binh Thuan, Long An, Ho Chi Minh City, and An Giang provinces and cities to direct relevant units to temporarily suspend changes in the assets of 17 defendants in the case and recommend that the Trial Council request the defendants to compensate for the damage of more than 308 billion VND to the State budget.
