Lang Son On the morning of January 23, the temperature on Mau Son peak dropped to minus 1 degree Celsius, ice covered a large area, attracting about 500-600 tourists to come and sightsee.
Mr. Vi Minh Phuc, representative of Mau Son Tourist Area Management Department, told VnExpress that frost started appearing last night and this morning when the temperature dropped below 0 degrees, there was more frost.
"Since the evening of January 22, tourists have flocked to see the ice. By this morning, there were about 500-600 visitors, half of whom were from other provinces and the rest were locals," said Mr. Phuc.

On the top of Mau Son, there are three motels, with a capacity of more than 100 guests, which were fully booked since the evening of January 22. Three other motels about 3 km from the top of the mountain also had no vacancies. The accommodations also provide food and beverage services, meeting the demand. Other tourists who arrived late and could not find a motel mainly enjoyed the day and then returned to the city.
"Someone has rented a room on top of Mau Son until Friday," Mr. Phuc added.
Since the evening of January 22, Nguyen Xuan Phuong, 48 years old, from Vinh Phuc , has been in Mau Son, the roof of the Northeast region with an average altitude of 800 to 1,000 meters above sea level. "After receiving a 'secret report' that ice was appearing everywhere, our group of 7 people set off immediately," said Phuong.
He had been arranged accommodation in advance by an acquaintance, so he had no difficulty. When he arrived, it was already dark, but he still saw the entire space covered in ice. "It was freezing cold, my limbs felt like they were freezing, but it was really satisfying," Mr. Phuong added.
According to the weather forecast, the temperature in Mau Son area will remain at the current low level for the next two days. Last night, in Phia Oac area in Cao Bang, ice also appeared, but this morning it gradually melted. Some tourists who went to Phia Oac peak early in the morning have returned.

Mau Son is about 185 km from Hanoi, close to the Vietnam - China border. Travel time from Hanoi is about 3 hours and 45 minutes in favorable traffic conditions. From the foot of the mountain to the top is about 15 km.
