On September 29, the Vietnam Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province to organize the 2024 National Weightlifting Championship at the Dak Lak Provincial Sports Gymnasium.

The organizing committee presented souvenir flags to the participating delegations.
Attending the opening ceremony were Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Thai Hong Ha; representatives of the Department of Physical Training and Sports, the Vietnam Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation, and leaders and athletes of the participating delegations.
In his opening speech, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province Thai Hong Ha said that the tournament is an activity to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the founding of Dak Lak province (November 22, 1904 - November 22, 2024), while promoting the implementation of the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho".
This is an important tournament to create opportunities for athletes to compete and improve their professional skills; at the same time, professional agencies inspect and evaluate the training and development of athletes of units and localities nationwide.
The 2024 National Weightlifting Championship has 211 athletes from 29 provinces, cities and sectors participating, competing in 10 men's weight categories from 55 kg to over 109 kg and 10 women's weight categories from 45 kg to over 87 kg.

The tournament brings together national athletes such as: Lai Gia Thanh (Hanoi delegation, won Gold Medals at 3 consecutive Southeast Asian Games), Do Tu Tung (Bac Ninh, 3 gold medals in the men's 55 kg category at the 2023 Asian Youth Weightlifting Championship), K'Duong (Lam Dong, broke 3 records at the 2023 World Youth Weightlifting Championship), Ngo Son Dinh (Can Tho, won 2 gold medals at the 2023 Asian Weightlifting Championship). On the women's side, there is athlete Pham Thi Hong Thanh from Nghe An, ranked 11th at the 2023 World Weightlifting Championship.
To create opportunities for athletes to compete, improve their professional qualifications, thereby evaluating the athlete training work of units and localities across the country.
After the opening ceremony, athletes will compete in the women's 45 kg, men's 55 kg and 61 kg weight classes. The national weightlifting championship is scheduled to last until October 4.
