Da Nang expands digital economy and blockchain cooperation with Lugano city (Switzerland)

At the meeting, Mayor of Lugano Michele Foletti informed about the socio -economic situation and potential of the locality. Lugano city is located in southern Switzerland, in the canton of Ticino.

Lugano is not only famous for its landscape, culture and artistic events at the LAC center (Lugano Arte e Cultura), but also a leading educational and research address such as: University of Southern Switzerland (USI), IDSIA Institute of Artificial Intelligence, National Supercomputing Center (CSCS).

Lugano is oriented to become a “digital innovation city”, implementing many initiatives on technology and digital finance, notably the Plan B program in cooperation with Tether to promote digital currency payments and develop the blockchain ecosystem.

With its dynamic business environment, open policies and modern technological foundation, Lugano is becoming an attractive destination for international cooperation activities in the fields of finance, education, technology and innovation.

Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang thanked Mayor Michele Foletti for his welcome to the delegation, and introduced the potential of Da Nang, the socio-economic development situation in the first 9 months of the year and the city's development orientation.

The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee proposed that the Mayor act as a bridge to help strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Da Nang city and Lugano city and Swiss partners.

Da Nang wishes to strengthen cooperation with the city of Lugano in public communication strategies, public transport and payment projects, educational programs, Plan B cooperation with Tether (including the Plan B Forum).

On the same day, the delegation visited the Satoshi statue, a symbol of innovation and the development of the blockchain ecosystem in Lugano.

The Satoshi statue was created by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi, made of stainless steel and corten, with a matte effect to represent Satoshi Nakamoto's anonymity.

The delegation visited PoW.Space - a key co-working space in the Plan B ecosystem, to learn about Lugano's model of supporting startups and blockchain businesses. This is a place to hold workshops, provide workspace, connect the community and attract technology, fintech and AI companies.

The delegation worked with Tether/Plan B representatives to discuss in more detail the cooperation orientation and implementation model of Plan B; worked with Tether's businesses and partners in Lugano city (Switzerland).

The representative of the city of Lugano presented an overview of Lugano's digital transformation strategy, including the Lugano app, public communication programs, public transport and payment projects, educational activities, and key initiatives within the Plan B framework such as the Plan B Forum.

Along with that is the working program with NAKA - a fintech company specializing in providing payment infrastructure based on blockchain technology, with the goal of connecting digital assets into traditional payment systems.

NAKA was selected as the technical infrastructure provider for the City of Lugano's Plan B initiative - a public-private partnership between the Lugano government and the Tether Foundation to bring cryptocurrency payments into everyday life .
