Colonel Do Xuan Hung, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 5, directed the search. The mobilized forces included hundreds of officers and soldiers from units of Military Region 5, along with the support of the police force and local militia.
Notably, Army dogs specially trained for search and rescue have also been deployed to the scene. With their keen sense of smell, these "four-legged warriors" are being used to search for victims buried under layers of rocks and mud, where motor vehicles have difficulty accessing.

In addition to using conventional means, Military Region 5 has used drones (flycam) to survey and delimit the search area from above, in order to improve efficiency and shorten rescue time. The supply of food, drinking water and medical equipment is also guaranteed to best support the rescue force.
