At around 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, Thang Long Avenue from the intersection of Le Quang Dao - Thang Long Avenue to the Vietnam Military History Museum (Nam Tu Liem District) was congested and paralyzed for more than 3km.
During the weekend, the number of visitors to the Vietnam Military History Museum increased abnormally, causing traffic congestion on Thang Long Avenue from the city center to Hoa Lac.
Km5 section on Thang Long Avenue is paralyzed, people are stuck and cannot move because of the huge traffic jam ahead.
Hundreds of 45-seat passenger vans lined up on Thang Long Avenue waiting to take visitors to the Vietnam Military History Museum.
Motorcyclists are frustrated with the long traffic jams and the heavy traffic ahead, causing many people to be "stuck" for quite a while.
Many students on the bus were tired from waiting on the bus for too long due to traffic congestion.
Unable to wait on the bus, many groups of students were led by teachers down the sidewalk, traveling nearly 1km to enter the museum.
At the tunnel area through Thang Long Avenue towards Vinhomes Smart City residential area, hundreds of passenger cars lined up in a long line, "dragon-shaped" with no space left.
After 4 p.m., vehicles were still lining up on the roads leading to the Vietnam Military History Museum even though the scheduled closing time of 5 p.m. was approaching.
Many groups of students rushed to visit the museum on time on the weekend.
According to some students and teachers leading the group, although the distance to the museum is less than 3km, it takes more than half an hour to get to an area 500m away from the museum.
"The tour is almost over. If we just sit on the bus and wait until we get there, we will not make it in time. We decided to let the students get off and walk. We still have about 300m to go. Hopefully, we will have enough time for the students to visit," said a tour guide.
At 4:30 p.m., traffic in this area was still paralyzed, and traffic congestion persisted.
The Vietnam Military History Museum was built by the Ministry of National Defense in 2019 on an area of 386,600 square meters, featuring a 45-meter-high Victory Tower in the front yard.
The main building has 4 floors above ground and one ground floor. The total investment is about 2,500 billion VND. The museum preserves more than 150,000 artifacts, including 4 national treasures and many military equipment. This is a new tourist destination in Hanoi , attracting groups of tourists and students to visit, especially on weekends and holidays.
